Tonight’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown saw Naomi drafted to the blue brand. She was featured in a segment with Sonya Deville, one of the authority figures on WWE programming. Excited to be back on SmackDown for the first time, Naomi asked Deville who her first match was going to be against. Shifting her focus from her phone, which she seemed more interested in than the recent SmackDown draftee, Deville admitted that she didn’t even know Naomi was coming to the show. Deville also mentioned that she didn’t think Naomi could measure up. Naomi replied, mentioning that she was a 2x SmackDown Women’s Champion. Before the former women’s titleholder could get much further, however, Deville interrupted, promising to let her know more next week. To say that the new draftee’s time on the blue brand started on a shaky note would be an understatement.

Naomi Drafted to SmackDown
Naomi’s move back to the blue brand is a move many fans would see as a long time coming. This past October, Naomi was drafted to Monday Night Raw; the September prior, she was out of action due to fibroid removal surgery. She made her return at the 2021 Royal Rumble pay-per-view this past January, entering the Women’s Royal Rumble at number 2 and lasting over 47 minutes. From there, she briefly formed a tag team with Lana, repeatedly vying for the WWE Women’s Tag Team titles. Naomi’s last official match took place at last month’s Money in the Bank pay-per-view. She competed in the Women’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match, which was ultimately won by Nikki A.S.H.
