Fred Rosser Signs Exclusive Agreement With NJPW

Fred Rosser NJPW

Earlier today, via Twitter, it was confirmed that Fred Rosser has signed an exclusive agreement with New Japan Pro Wrestling. “All I can say moving forward is, don’t ever let your dreams just be dreams,” said Rosser on social media. “Because as long as you’re patient & believe in your dreams, anything is possible. Patience is a talent.” Keep in mind that, leading to this news, Rosser has worked for other promotions, including the National Wrestling Alliance. In the latter promotion, he recently competed at NWA When Our Shadows Fall, taking on JTG. The terms of this agreement with NJPW have not been disclosed.

Fred Rosser began making appearances for NJPW in September of 2020. During this time, he worked with up-and-comers including Clark Connors, in addition to industry veterans, fellow former World Wrestling Entertainment star PJ Black included. Earlier this year, he competed in the New Japan Cup USA 2021 tournament, winning his qualifying match before losing to Hikuleo in their first-round match. Rosser would go on to have multiple matches with Hikuleo in 2021.

Rosser may be best known for his time in WWE, where he went under the ring name of Darren Young. He signed a developmental contract with the company in 2009. He would then compete in the first season of NXT, being mentored by CM Punk. Young’s time in the company can best be defined by his time in The Nexus, consisting of other NXT “Rookies,” and his team with Titus O’Neil. Together, as The Prime Time Players, they became WWE Tag Team Champions in 2015.
