#AndNEW: Hiromu Takahashi Wins IWGP Junior Heavyweight Title

Hiromu Takahashi Taiji Ishimori Wrestle Kingdom 15

On night two of Wrestle Kingdom 15, the Best of Super Juniors (BOSJ) winner Hiromu Takahashi defeated Taiji Ishimori to regain the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship. This marks his fourth time holding the championship.

Takahashi lost the championship to Ishimori back at Summer Struggle and was on a path of destruction to get it back. When he won the BOSJ, he set himself up to at least have an opportunity at the title. He bet on his ability, facing the Super J Cup winner El Phantasmo on night one to determine if he would face Ishimori or not on night two. Despite a hand injury, Takahashi defeated his first Bullet Club roadblock and went onto night two against the fresh Ishimori. In a match that went over 25 minutes, Hiromu Takahashi outlasted Ishimori to pin him in the middle of the ring to win the title.

Takahashi has a number of challenges awaiting him, but in the co-main event of night two, he proved that he remains one of New Japan’s signature talents. Now, where Ishimori goes from here remains to be seen. An all-time effort by Takahashi that matches his friend, Tetsuya Naito, from last year. He is your new IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship.
