#AndNEW: Kota Ibushi Wins IWGP Titles At Wrestle Kingdom 15

Wrestle Kingdom 15 Tetsuya Naito Kota Ibushi

Kota Ibushi defeated Tetsuya Naito in the main event of Wrestle Kingdom 15 night one to win the IWGP Heavyweight and Intercontinental Championships. The win comes after Ibushi hit three Kamigoye knee strikes to the skull of Naito to finally put him away. After surviving two Destinos, the final series of blows was when Ibushi put down the knee pad, hitting a V-Trigger knee then the third Kamigoye to win.

This was a slugfest that saw these two put each other through every possible painful maneuver. Ibushi had earned the opportunity when he won the G1 Climax for the second year in a row but lost the briefcase to Jay White. Naito, the champion, still gave Ibushi the opportunity that he had earned to win the titles. This marks the first-time in Ibushi’s career that he held the IWGP Heavyweight Championship. White came out following the match to tell Ibushi that he will once again be there to pull the champion back down as he did with the G1 Climax briefcase.

Kota Ibushi will face the fresh Jay White in the main event on night two of Wrestle Kingdom 15 tomorrow with both the IWGP Heavyweight and Intercontinental Championships on the line. It will be the major rematch that should be settled in the final match of Wrestle Kingdom 15. History will be made, one way or the other.
