Preview: DDT Who’s Gonna TOP? 2020 (9/27/2020)

DDT Who's Gonna TOP 2020

Dramatic Dream Team rolls on ever closer to Ultimate Party 2020. One of the stops along the way, however, will be DDT Who’s Gonna TOP? 2020. Going into this show, we don’t know three of the matches. However, two titles are going to be on the line. On the 27th, there will be a wild show to watch. The card is as follows.

Toru Owashi/Saki Akai/Hideki Okatani vs DAMNATION (Soma Takao/Mad Paulie/Nobuhiro Shimatani)

The first match of Who’s Gonna TOP? 2020 contains a mash-up team as a member of Disaster Box, Eruption, and Junretsu takes on DAMNATION. The three members of the former mash-up team are extremely talented. They also have a range from the seasoned vet to youth with a lot of potential, along with one-third of the current KO-D six-man champions in Saki Akai. This one might be harder to call than first anticipated.

Danshoku Dieno vs Kazuki Hirata

This is a matchup that really does scream DDT, featuring two names tied to the company. Kazuki Hirata and Danshoku Dieno are guaranteed to give a match that is, at the very least, entertaining. This isn’t to discount their abilities in the ring; they can wrestle if need be. This won’t be the focus in a match between these two. Instead, it will be silly and kind of crazy. This match will be more focused on the outlandish characters these two have.

DDT Extreme Championship Shinya Aoki Antonio Honda

DDT Extreme Championship: Shinya Aoki (c) vs Antonio Honda

Antonio Honda laid out a challenge to Shinya Aoki for the DDT Extreme Championship in a rather strange way. Honda congratulated Aoki’s title reign, but said it needed to be weirder. Thus, Honda challenged Aoki to be more courageous to be weird. Aoki has yet to choose the rules for this match, but they usually rise to the occasion to meet the wrestler that he is facing. Considering one of his defenses allowed wrestlers to strip themselves, getting weirder is a morbidly curious prospect.

DDT Nautilus vs Chris Brookes and Drew Parker

DDT KO-D Tag Team Championship: Nautilus (Yuki Ueno and Naomi Yoshimura) (c) vs Chris Brookes and Drew Parker

Nautilus recently has been finding singles success as Yuki Ueno managed to challenge for the KO-D Openweight Title twice. However, Ueno and Naomi Yoshimura’s bread and butter will always be tag title success as they are looking for defense seven of the KO-D Tag Team Championship. Their opponents seem to be a mirror image of themselves as Chris Brookes and Drew Parker look to secure the KO-D Tag Team Championship. They found great singles success in DDT, wth Chris Brookes being the current Universal Champion. This will be a very athletic contest to see who will come out on top as the champion.

Who's Gonna TOP? 2020

DDT Tug of War Singles Series: Junretsu (Jun Akiyama/Makoto Oishi/Mizuki Watase) vs ALL OUT (Konosuke Takeshita/Akito/Shunma Katsumata)

This will be three separate singles matches decided at the show via three ropes. The ropes will be hidden under a tarp and each person will grab an end and pull. The people who grab the same rope will be in a match with each other. Currently, there is only speculation as to what matches will be on display. Of note is Jun Akiyama and Konosuke Takeshita will be taking part in this. They will face off in a singles match at Ultimate Party 2020. Meanwhile, Akito and Shunma Katsumata will dive more into their respective styles. These potential matches look to be very interesting.

Who's Gonna TOP? 2020

#DAMNHEARTS (Tetsuya Endo/Daisuke Sasaki/T-Hawk/El Lindaman) vs HARASHIMA/Kazusada Higuchi/Yukio Sakaguchi/Yukio Naya

The main event of Who’s Gonna TOP? 2020 contains both the champion and the challenger on the same team as Tetsuya Endo chose Daisuke Sasaki to defend against at Ultimate Party 2020. They also are teaming with T-Hawk and El Lindaman who Eruption beat for the KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Championship. Two of the three of Eruption are on the opposing team. HARASHIMA and Yukio Naya who are imposing figures in their own right. Cracks already began showing in the relationship of DAMNATION. Could this match patch things up or make matters worse?
