Preview: AEW Dynamite (6/10/20)

AEW Dynamite

It is almost Wednesday (already?) and AEW Dynamite returns with yet another stacked card.  Last week’s edition of Dynamite saw squash matches, big confrontations, tag title defenses and a very good main event between Cody and Jungle Boy.  This week’s episode sees Le Champion, Chris Jericho, return to the commentary booth.  A welcomed addition, indeed.  What else is on the card? Let’s find out!

Sammy Guevara vs Colt Cabana

AEW Dynamite

Last week, Chris Jericho – accompanied by Sammy Guevara and Jake Hager – defeated Colt Cabana with a Judas Effect.  The match was billed as a “first time ever” between two veterans of the game and, honestly, it delivered.  A solid bout of entertainment, Jericho and the Inner Circle proved to be too much for Cabana.  This week, Cabana has an opportunity at some sweet, sweet revenge.  Though Jericho might disagree, Guevara butchered his “Judas” entrance last week – performing the vocals out of tune, whilst forgetting half the lyrics.  This week, Colt has the opportunity to shut him up for good.  Can we expect some more Inner Circle interference? Potentially, though Colt should be ready this time.

FTR (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler) vs The Butcher & The Blade

On last week’s AEW Dynamite, in their interview with Tony Schiovane, FTR (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler) – which apparently stands for whatever you want it to stand for – name-dropped The Butcher and The Blade as one of the teams they want to face.  Free The Rabbit have the potential to have a good match with any tag team and this should be no different.  Fun Time Revolution must keep one eye on the tag team championships and one on long-time rivals, The Young Bucks (Matt and Nick Jackson) if they are to live up to the hype.  However, if they don’t keep both eyes on The Butcher and The Blade here, it might just be over for Feel The Rum.  Expect a good match.

Inner Circle (Jake Hager, Santana & Ortiz) vs Best Friends (Trent & Chuck Taylor) & Orange Cassidy

A six man tag match is next and it sees Orange Cassidy team up with Best Friends (Chuck Taylor and Trent) against Jake Hager, Santana & Ortiz.  Best Friends are yet to face Santana & Ortiz in a standard tag team match in AEW – with previous meetings coming in fatal four ways and battle royals.  Adding in the sheer size and ability of Hager and the Freshly Squeezed charisma of Cassidy, things could be interesting.  Can the Inner Circle return to form? Stay tuned.

TNT Championship Open Challenge: Cody (C) vs Marq Quen

AEW Dynamite

Cody and Marq Quen have never met in a one versus one scenario.  In fact, they have only been involved in one previous match with each other – coming on October 16, 2019, when Cody teamed with Dustin Rhodes and The Young Bucks to defeat Private Party (Isaiah Kassidy & Marq Quen) and Strong Hearts (CIMA & T-Hawk).  Therefore, this is a fresh new match up with the potential to bring an exciting main event.  Marq Quen is a talented young performer and has a very real opportunity to prove that here in a high-profile singles bout.  Cody, for all his criticisms, has an opportunity as TNT Champion to use these open challenge matches to help younger talent get over – much like John Cena did many years ago as US Champion.  This should be another fun episode of AEW Dynamite and it’s live on TNT this Wednesday, at 8PM EST.
