Preview: Monday Night RAW (5/25/20)

Monday Night RAW

Monday Night RAW returns to our screens tonight! Has it been a week already? You bet.  With multiple tragedies taking place in the wrestling world over the past week, an easy-going RAW is very much appreciated.  RAW has much to live up to, however, with AEW‘s Double or Nothing 2020 proving to be an excellent show.  Can RAW deliver? You’ll have to tune in to find out.  Or if you don’t want to wait until then, you can check the weekly preview right here.  Let’s dive in!

Drew McIntyre To Appear On The VIP Lounge

Monday Night RAW

On last week’s RAW, Drew McIntyre defeated King Corbin.  In what was billed a “SmackDown vs RAW” match, RAW’s WWE Champion reigned supreme over the blue brand.  Closing the show was the sight of McIntyre ranting about how he wants Bobby Lashley.  Ask and you shall receive, Drew.  This week, McIntyre is a guest on the VIP Lounge.  MVP has become the agent of Lashley, so there’s no doubt he’s aiming to do what any agent does: make money.  A big money match is coming for his client and MVP wants to seal the deal.  Stay tuned to see what happens in this segment.

Number One Contenders Match: Charlotte Flair vs Natalya vs Nia Jax

Two weeks ago, Becky Lynch shocked the world and announced she is to become a mother.  Asuka‘s Money in the Bank briefcase was revealed to be the RAW Women’s Championship.  Therefore, Asuka replaced Becky as the number one woman on the red brand.  Now, however, there is a vacancy for a number one contender.  Step up Natalya, Nia Jax and Charlotte Flair.  Charlotte is already involved in a storyline at the moment.  She is the NXT Women’s Champion, having de-throned Rhea Ripley at WrestleMania XXXVI.  Since then, she has taken the championship hostage; wrestling on SmackDown and RAW, respectively.  Can we expect an infuriated Ripley or fellow contender Io Shirai to interfere here? Quite possibly.  This match is likely between Jax and Nattie.  Tune in to USA Network tonight find out who wins.

United States Championship: Andrade (C) W/ Zelina Vega vs Apollo Crews

Monday Night RAW

Apollo Crews has been feuding with Zelina Vega and her associates for a while now.  Unfortunately, he suffered an injury last month – which kept him out of the ring until last week.  He returned to team with Kevin Owens, with Crews getting the big pin-fall victory over Angel Garza (who teamed with Andrade).  In doing so, he has clearly earned a shot at the WWE US Championship.  Honestly, it is great to see Apollo Crews featured more prominently.  He has been one of the beneficiaries of the lockdown and has stood out on RAW; showcasing his excellent talent and potential on a weekly basis.  Can he pull off another big victory here? With Vega’s “Empire” looking a bit fragile in recent weeks, it is possible.  However, she will no doubt have Garza interfere at some point.  Let’s just hope Crews remembered to ask Owens for back up.  You can watch Monday Night RAW live tonight on USA Network, 8PM EST.
