Rusev Pledges $20,000 To “WWE Extended Family” During Crisis

With WWE running smaller production teams due to size limitations amidst social distancing orders from local governments, many of WWE’s employees are sitting at home during the uncertainty of the COVID-19 outbreak worldwide. But one WWE Superstar is offering financial assistance to their fellow WWE employees, should they fall on financial hardships. On Tuesday afternoon, Rusev made a pledge on his Twitter to offer $20,000 to “any of my WWE extended family that are sitting at home without an income”, such as “(p)roduction, security, etc.”

While Rusev hasn’t appeared on WWE television since the February 17 edition of Raw – in a tag team loss with Humberto Carillo against Bobby Lashley & Angel Garza – Rusev has maintained a presence on his Social Media. While panned by many internet fans, the Lana-Rusev-Lashley cuckold storyline did very well on YouTube, garnering millions of views – several segments topped the 3 million view mark.

Rusev’s comments were a welcome change in tone after fellow WWE Superstar Braun Strowman. “Here we go with more of the somebody pay for my bills stuff,” he said in his post. “If you can’t afford to pay your bills maybe you should change professions. That’s why I quit strongman. I loved it, but I couldn’t afford to live so instead of making a go fund me or a Patreon wanting someone else to take care of me I went out and worked harder than I ever have in my life to get to where I am.”
