AEW on TNT: Chris Jericho Picks Santana & Ortiz As Tag Partners

Chris Jericho

All Elite Wrestling (AEW) is prepping for its national cable debut on TNT on Wednesday, October 2 at 8pm, and one of the advertised matches was The Elite (Kenny Omega & The Young Bucks) against AEW World Heavyweight Champion Chris Jericho and two mystery partners. On the Tuesday night intro special on AEW on TNT, Jericho revealed his mystery partners.

Santana and Ortiz, formerly of LAX, walked in following the All Out main event to not only congratulate the new champion but to thank him, something he’s been waiting from the AEW personel since day one. Santana and Ortiz attacked both The Young Bucks and the Lucha Bros following their match at All Out where both teams went through the grueling “Escuerla De La Muerte” ladder match for the AAA World Tag Team Championships.

Santana and Ortiz were most recently in IMPACT Wrestling where they hold their tag titles four separate times and had a memorable rivalry with the Lucha Bros. Their third reign is the longest of the championships in the company with 261 days total. They lost the titles to The North and finished up with IMPACT just weeks ago when they faced Willie Mack and Rich Swann in a friendly bout to end their time there.

The addition of Santana and Ortiz to the already stacked tag team division of AEW was an exciting one, and their addition to this match makes the main event of AEW’s first show on TNT a can’t-miss one. The gripe could be real for them as well as they are not including in the AEW Tag Team Championship Tournament, but if they are able to help the AEW World Champion Chris Jericho get a victory over the original Elite, they are sure to jump to the front of the line when the tournament concludes.
