SummerSlam Preview: Bayley vs. Ember Moon

Bayley Ember Moon

Since Money in the Bank 2019, SmackDown Live Women’s Champion Bayley has been truly a fighting champion as a proud representative of the “Blue Brand.” By beating the likes of Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross, she regained some of her momentum lost after a rough 2017 which had her lose the Raw Women’s Championship to Bliss.

After a tag team match as Bayley teamed up with Ember Moon, defeating the team of Fire and Desire, Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville. In a post-match interview with Kayla Braxton, Bayley decided to declare a challenge to her partner for SummerSlam, with an emphatic response, Ember Moon accepted the challenge. Week after week, both were found in precarious situations in which one of them was being attacked and the other would have to save them, and then they would get saved and attacked by their opponent to break even.

This match, unfortunately, suffers from a severe lack of heat between the two. It’s a babyface vs. babyface match, in theory, there isn’t anything wrong with it. However, at the same time, it’s tough to give a good story when there’s no heat. Regardless, with the time given this on paper should be a stellar match between the two former NXT Women’s Champions.

The key for this match is The Eclipse. If Bayley gets hit with The Eclipse, it will be over. It’s about making sure that Moon doesn’t get the advantage to use the move and at this point, Bayley is such a solid all-around wrestler in her own right, she could match the intensity with Ember Moon. It will be a gritty match but it will have Bayley strongly retain the title.

Prediction: Bayley
