Raw Reunion Highlights Rundown – Stone Cold delivers once again (7/22/19)

Raw Highlights

Raw Reunion was exactly what fans would expect. A night full of legends highlighting a mostly nothing shows in the biggest nostalgia night of the year. With the likes of DX, Ric Flair, and Hulk Hogan among the promised guests, it was going to be a fun night throughout. Here are the raw highlights.

John Cena returns

The biggest unannounced name of the huge Raw Reunion was the one and only John Cena. This was the first time Cena was in a WWE ring since WrestleMania, and his first Raw since January. While there was nothing set up for the 16x World Champion, it was nice to see Cena back in his true home and he let it be known that he was happy to be back. We know the days of Cena wrestling are truly numbered, so moments like these should not be overlooked.

The 24/7 Championship Changes Hands 9 Times

While R-Truth started the night as champion and ended the night as champion, there were plenty new faces to hold the 24/7 Championship on Raw Reunion. History was made as Kelly Kelly became the first woman to hold the championship, while a number of legends won it by either buying it or attacking their friends. Truth and Drake Maverick will fight until the end of time for this championship, but that won’t stop others from doing what they can to win. To see all nine new champions, take a look here.

Samoa Joe and Roman Reigns renew their rivalry

In an unexpected but exciting turn, Samoa Joe and Roman Reigns renewed the rivalry at least for one night tonight. Joe was talking down the audience and the Samoan Dynasty when he joked about The Usos and Rikishi earlier in the night. This led to Roman Reigns getting in the ring and the two would brawl. Reigns would acknowledge after as Joe tried to refuse a match with him that not all Samoans are soft. Roman would ultimately defeat Joe with a Spear to cap off his night on Raw Reunion. If this was the way they were going to go for SummerSlam that would have been exciting, but it seems to be a one-night occurrence.

DX and The Kliq stand up to The OC

The Club seems to be no more. And when I say that, I mean the name of The Club. AJ Styles, Luke Gallows, and Karl Anderson are now The OC. The original, the official, and the only Club that matters. Styles would take on Seth Rollins in one on one action. As Rollins rolled out of the ring, The OC would look to team up on Rollins and leave a message to the rest of the roster.

DX would be on their way to save Rollins as Triple H and Shawn Michaels walked down. They would even get physical as Gallows pulled down Rollins when he hit the ropes. Road Dogg and X-Pac would make their way down along with Scott Hall and Kevin Nash when The OCs would try and get DX to Too Sweet them. Road Dogg would make the point that they were the OGs of it all and left The OCs speechless. The three would retreat as Seth Rollins broke it down with DX and The Kliq for a cool moment.

Bray Wyatt takes out Mick Foley

Mick Foley’s plan was to show his greatest moment in his Raw career when he won the WWE Championship and then the video showing was quickly shut off. Then followed the lights and the screaming noise played. Bray Wyatt appeared, dressed as “The Fiend” once again. He would place the Mandible Claw on Foley and leave him laying before disappearing. Nothing will stop Wyatt it seems as he blazes through current day stars and legends.

Stone Cold Steve Austin caps off the night

Ric Flair has been on TV enough in the past few years to make it not as special as we would hope to be. Hulk Hogan always gets a nice pop after a couple of years of being away, but this Raw Reunion was all about one man. Stone Cold Steve Austin’s music would be the last to hit as he would cap off the night. He would state how his brothers, sisters, and WWE family all-around is something truly special. The Stone Cold moments that are rare inside the ring nowadays are always worth it, even without a Stone Cold Stunner to top off the night. He would have a toast in the middle of the ring with all the legends, because that was the bottom line, because Stone Cold said so. Fun night all around capped off by one of the best to ever do it.

What may be most overlooked for this night is holding this Raw Reunion special in Tampa, Florida allows the NXT talent to also be backstage and pick the minds of the legends of the past. That is something many fans may not realize but makes the entire event worth it. It is sure to pop off a big rating with the big guns coming out. It was as advertised. A reunion of past stars of the company coming together to let the fans and everyone backstage appreciate the company of them. SmackDown LIVE will look to continue the road to SummerSlam tomorrow night as Kofi Kingston lays down a challenge for the biggest show of the summer.
