Indie Watch is our regular series that looks at all of the amazing talents working the independent circuits around the world. Some are veterans revitalizing their careers, some are indie prospects hitting their peaks, while others are names to be on the watch for! This edition looks at Australian star Caveman Ugg.
In a relatively short career, Caveman Ugg has managed to quickly rocket to the top of the Australian indie scene. Initially, Ugg stood out due to his size and throwback gimmick, which is akin to many of the greats fro early 90s WWF. However, once Ugg stepped foot inside the squared circle he was able to capture the hearts of Australian fans due to his freakish athleticism for a man of his size. By simply looking at Ugg’s build you would expect to see a bruising style filled with power slams, suplexes, and stiff strikes. What you may not expect to see are though are moonsaults and phoenix splashes but Ugg can do it all.

Based out of Sydney, Australia Caveman Ugg began to build his reputation the smaller promotions of Newcastle Pro Wrestling (Newy Pro) and Wrestling GO! In both of these promotions, Ugg would climb to the top of the ranks, holding the New Pro Heavyweight Championship for 182 days over two reigns and the Wrestling GO! Gold Medal for 314 days in a single reign.
However, it wasn’t until Caveman Ugg ventured south to Melbourne City Wrestling (MCW) though that his name really exploded on the scene. During his time in MCW Ugg would join forces with Syd Parker and Erika Reid to form the tag team known as the Prehistoric Death Cult. As a team, Parker and Ugg would combine power, highflying and hardcore styles to capture the MCW Tag Team Championship from The Brat Pack (Mitch Waterman & Nick Bury). Prehistoric Death Cult would hold the title for 217 days, defeating The Brat Pack, Helter Skelter (Ali & Jake Andrewartha) and The Untouchables (Damian Slater & Marcus Pitt) before ultimately losing the titles to The Brat Pack.
With newfound confidence, thanks to his run as a tag team competitor in Melbourne, Ugg would begin to see his stock rising at home in Sydney at Pro Wrestling Australia (PWA) and World Series Wrestling (WSW). Across the span of 2017 and 2018 Ugg would square off against the likes of Mick Moretti, Jonah Rock, Matty Wahlberg, Robbie Eagles, Will Ospreay, Jimmy Havoc, Abyss, Brian Cage and Pete Dunne. Ultimately this rise would culminate at PWA Call To Arms 2018. It was here that Caveman Ugg wold capture his most significant singles championship by defeating Jonah Rock in a steel cage match for the PWA Heavyweight Championship. Since then Ugg has successfully defended his championship against Adam Hoffman and Matty Wahlberg, extended his reign to 341 days and counting.
Since capturing the PWA Heavyweight Championship Caveman Ugg has been searching for competition far and wide. In 2019 Ugg ventured to the United States where he competed for Game Changer Wrestling (GCW), as part of Joey Janela’s Spring Break 3 in the Clusterfuck Battle Royal. Ugg also wrestled on the IWTV Family Reunion show in a six-person tag team match which consisted of Caveman Ugg, Steph De Lander & Unsocial Jordan versus Bel Piece, Jack J. Bonza and Mick Moretti.
Most recently Caveman Ugg has been training at the Fale Dojo in Japan, where he appears to be packing on even more muscle. Expect Caveman Ugg to return as an even more polished, powerful and intimidating force when he arrives in Pro Wrestling Guerilla (PWG) for the Battle Of Los Angles 2019.
