Raw Highlights Rundown – The Street Profits Steal the Show (7/8/19)

Raw Highlights

Following an incredible weekend of wrestling like every other weekend, Monday Night Raw tried to follow. As the go-home Raw before Extreme Rules rolled through New Jersey, the big match planned was Shane McMahon and Drew McIntyre vs Roman Reigns and a partner of Shane’s choosing. Truly exhilarating. The real excitement should come in the form of what is next for The Club after reforming a week ago. Here are the Raw highlights.

Raw Highlights: Bobby Lashley Destroys Rey Mysterio

Rey Mysterio has returned after six weeks of rehabbing his shoulder injury. Excitement was in the air as WWE’s greatest underdog was prepared to hold an open challenge in his first night back. That open challenge would be answered by a surprising foe in the form of Bobby Lashley. The same Lashley who was put through the LED Screen of the entrance way a week ago with Braun Strowman and was stretchered away.

Lashley is on a war path. It was clear through the domination of Rey Mysterio. While Mysterio would hit Lashley with a 619, he would go for the West Coast Pop in which he would be caught. The freakishly strong Lashley would hit him with a mega Flatliner and a charged-up Spear to win the match. Lashley would look to toss Mysterio through the same screen he went through, but the referees were there to stop him. Lashley would send the message to Strowman that this Sunday he would be the last man standing.

Raw Highlights: Ricochet runs The Club Gauntlet

There isn’t a bigger star on the rise in the WWE than Ricochet. The current United States Champion has been on a tear as of late but has now found himself as the first victim of a newly reformed group of AJ Styles, Luke Gallows, and Karl Anderson. The Club destroyed Ricochet to end the show just a week ago. This week a match between Luke Gallows and “The One and Only” would take place. Ricochet would be dominated for much of the match as “Big LG” dominated but Ricochet would have enough to roll him up when he was celebrating his success so far. Right after, Ricochet would have to take on Karl Anderson after saying he would go through the entire Club to stop them. He would manage to defeat Anderson as well when he would hit a 630 Splash on Anderson to finish him.

Styles would immediately get into the ring and beat down Ricochet. He was left laying once again and Styles would even prepare him for the Styles Clash off the top rope, but he would let him go. Styles would tell Ricochet that he was going to leave him stable so he could take the United States Championship away from him on Sunday. He would refuse to stay down however as Ricochet would get to his feet, leading The Club back into the ring. Styles would hit a Phenomenal Forearm on Ricochet to have the last laugh once again. Their match Sunday should be a classic.

Raw Highlights: Nikki Cross Beats the Clock

Bayley and Nikki Cross competed in a Beat the Clock Challenge to see who would decide the stipulation for Bayley and Alexa Bliss’ match this Sunday at Extreme Rules. While the SmackDown Women’s Champion would respectively beat Sarah Logan, Cross would beat the clock by defeating Dana Brooke even faster. Cross would then announce that it would be a 2 on 1 Handicap match this Sunday for the SmackDown Women’s Championship. She would continue by saying that Bayley needs to find a friend that cares as much as Alexa. This would lead to Bayley hitting a Bayley to Belly on Cross and then an elbow drop. Sasha Banks must be returning Sunday, right?

Raw Highlights: Cedric Alexander tries to aid Roman Reigns

Shane McMahon could stop being on TV so much and ratings would instantly rise for Raw and SmackDown LIVE. But instead, he was in the main event of Raw teaming with Drew McIntyre against Roman Reigns and the handpicked tag team partner of Gary Garbutt. However, Garbutt appeared to be anyone but the janitor we saw earlier in the night. It was instead Cedric Alexander. Yes. You are reading this correctly. Cedric Alexander, the soul of 205 Live, main evented Monday Night Raw.

While he was wearing a janitor outfit and a mask, it is still a step in the right direction. Roman alluded to the fact that he and his partner were the ones who would be making the surprises. Alexander shocked the crowd when he would pull out the moves as the janitor as he wouldn’t remove the mask until after the match. Unfortunately, McIntyre would hit the Claymore on Cedric out of nowhere to give them the victory, but it was a main event for Alexander regardless.

Raw MVP: The Street Profits

An interesting way to get over the reigning NXT Tag Team Champions, however the incredibly talented Street Profits are managing to get over with their incredible promo abilities. From Montez Ford impersonating The Rock to Angelo Dawkins pretending to choose Baron Corbin to win this Sunday, these two are on their way to be the most popular team on TV. Keep letting these two show their talents because they will be making money for this company soon enough.

Raw was by no means the best but not bad for a go-home episode. Be sure to check back tomorrow for the SmackDown LIVE Rundown.
