Suwama Named All Japan President of Talent Relations

All Japan Pro Wrestling, one of the world’s longest running promotions and one of Japan’s pioneer organizations, announced on Wednesday that former 6x All Japan Triple Crown winner Suwama was All Japan’s new President of Talent Relations. It’s a tragic promotion for Suwama, who assumes the position that had previously been held by reigning AJPW World Junior Heavyweight Champion Atsushi Aoki, who sadly passed away earlier this month. Atsushi Aoki was promoted to President of Talent Relations in 2016 and was also the head trainer at the All Japan Dojo.

For Suwama, it’s another step up in the All Japan hierarchy, for a company he’s spent his entire 15-year career with. Trained by Hiroshi Hase and Kaz Hayashi, he debuted with All Japan in 2004, winning his first Triple Crown at AJPW Growing Up on April 29, 2008, defeating legend Kensuke Sasaki. Apart from his six reigns as Triple Crown Champion (which are the most by any All Japan wrestler in history), the 42-year old has also captured the AJPW World Tag Team titles on four occasions, with the past three (including his current and reigning run) as part of Violent Giants alongside former Triple Crown Champion Shuji Ishikawa. In his press conference, Suwama stated he wanted to create a new atmosphere in the All Japan locker room with the roster, where “all wrestlers can fight whoever, whenever, wherever.”
