Preview: IMPACT Wrestling Presents Code Red (5/5/19)

Code Red

This past Sunday at IMPACT Rebellion it was announced that the promotion would be rolling out a revamped version of its Global Wrestling Network (GWN) App, and now be called IMPACT+ which rolled out on Wednesday, May 1st, 2019. The app will feature all the greatest hits that IMPACT Wrestling has ever produced from the promotions inception, plus it will also feature original events on a monthly basis. One of those events will be this coming Sundays “Code Red”, an event co-produced by IMPACT Wrestling and House Of Glory (HOG). The show will emanate from Jamaica, Queens, NY at the NYC Arena.

Heres a look at the card:

Moose vs. Ken Broadway

In what looks to be the opener of the card, the ever charismatic Moose will face a man who is considered as one of the staples of HOG, Ken Broadway. Ken Broadway’s Floyd Mayweather like attitude has him facing a man who also considers himself the ultimate hustler and who has all the money in the world, so much so, that he now goes by the name “Money Moose”. This should be a very entertaining match with two of the most charismatic characters of their brands, but despite the money, will Ken Broadway be able to defeat the powerhouse that is Moose? or will Moose have another bad night as he did when Melissa Santos rejected him, leaving the big man feeling defeated?

Tessa Blanchard & Violette vs. Scarlett Bordeaux & Sonya Strong

In a women’s tag match, we have two of IMPACT’s best performers tagging with 2 of HOG’s best performers as The “Undeniable” Tessa Blanchard teams with Violette to face the team of The “Smokeshow” Scarlett Bordeaux and HOG’s Sonya Strong. Violette and Strong have had a rivalry stemming back over a year, both women are former HOG Women’s Champions and come with an intense style to the ring. While Strong and Violette’s rivalry will most likely continue to boil after this special tag match, Scarlett Bordeaux and Tessa Blanchard have yet to meet one on one. Could this match lead to a future rivalry between Blanchard and Bordeaux moving forward?

The Rascalz (Dez & Wentz) vs. The North (Ethan Page & Josh Alexander)

In a rivalry that began with Money Moose and The Rascalz, “The North” recently joined Moose and battled the Rascalz in a six-man tag match at IMPACT Rebellion, which turned out to be a barnburner of a match and arguably one of the best matches of the night. Now that “The North” share a common enemy in “The Rascalz”, how will Wentz and Dez respond to the lost that was suffered by The Rascalz this past Sunday? This should be a wild match, as any match involving “The Rascalz” has been nothing short of death-defying and a sight to see.

Impact X-Division Championship: Rich Swann (c) vs. Ace Austin vs. Trey vs. Smiley vs. Evander James vs. Mantequilla

In what could very well be the show stealer of the evening, we have a six-man match for the X Division Championship.  In a match like this, expect all six men to pull out all the punches and turn this into the wild wild west with all around aerial assaults and never before seen maneuvers.

LAX (Santana & Ortiz) vs. oVe (Dave & Jake Crist) vs. New York Wrecking Krew (Smoothe Blackmon & Chris Seaton)

Photo: Impact/House Of Glory

3 of the best tag teams face each other as HOG’s best, The New York Wrecking Krew go off against IMPACTS best in OVE and LAX. While OVE and LAX have a very well known history stemming back a year or so, the two teams have no clue of the New York Wrecking Krew who may very well serve as the dark horse favorite to win this match. Will see the bad blood continue between OVE and LAX in this match? Or will either team be able to focus enough to look out for a team they virtually know nothing about?

Michael Elgin vs. Willie Mack

Photo: Impact/House Of Glory

At IMPACT Rebellion, we saw the debut of “Big” Mike Elgin, as he interrupted the newly crowned IMPACT Wrestling Heavyweight Champion, Brian Cage, and made an impressive statement by delivering and Elgin Bomb to The Machine. Elgin squares off against Willie Mack. A man, who is known the world over and is one of the best competitors around. It’s been a few months since we have seen Mike Elgin perform, as he was recently with New Japan Pro Wrestling but is no longer with the company. Can Mack put a stop to Elgin or will “Big” Mike prevail in what would be his first match with the company since he left New Japan Pro Wrestling?

Johnny Impact & Taya Valkyrie vs. Eddie Edwards & Alisha Edwards

Photo: Impact/House Of Glory

The Mayor and his wife of Slamtown come to HOG to face off against another married couple in Eddie and Alisha Edwards. While these two teams have not had any issue with each other, it will be interesting to see what becomes of each team after this match. Impact has come off a bad loss when he failed to retain the IMPACT Wrestling Heavyweight Champion, while Taya has continued to retain the title despite some grueling wars. Will Johnny Impact be able to keep emotions stable this Sunday or will he come out of the gate just attacking everyone in his way?

Sami Callihan vs. Tommy Dreamer (OVE Rules)

Photo: Impact/House Of Glory

The Death Machine will face The Hardcore legend in what should be a brutal yet entertaining match. We all know Tommy Dreamers legend stemming all the way to the beginning of ECW. Very little can be said about Dreamer that has not been said yet, however, Dreamer has not faced someone like Sami Callihan who will utilize anything and everything to his disposal, including Lego sets. What will happen before, during and after this Dream Match? Will Dreamer prevail as the ultimate Hardcore legend? Or will Sami Callihan be able to unleash all his weapons and destroy the legend of Tommy Dreamer?
