oVe Adding A Death Machine at IMPACT Tapings

On Friday, March 22 and Saturday, March 23, IMPACT Wrestling is once again returning to the St. Clair College in Windsor, Ontario, Canada for two nights of TV tapings. This weekend’s shows have some interesting matches lined up and announced already by IMPACT, including the IMPACT debut of Canadian indie star Josh Alexander, but local advertising from Border City Wrestling (BCW), the local indie promotion owned and operated by IMPACT’s Scott D’Amore, has revealed something more. On Monday it was revealed that Sami Callihan’s on-going feud with Rich Swann will continue, as Swann will be pairing with ally Willie Mack in tag team action against Sami Callihan, but Callihan’s partner isn’t one of his usual Ohio Versus Everything (oVe) companions. Instead, it’s former NXT Superstar and SaNitY member Sawyer “Madman” Fulton.

Madman Fulton (as he’s now referred to on the independent scene) is another Ohio wrestler (from Toledo) who began in the Midwest indies in 2010 as Jake South with Mid-Ohio Wrestling (MOW). In 2012, he was signed by the WWE and assigned to the NXT brand, where he was rechristened as Sawyer Fulton. He remained a part of NXT for six years, where the WWE tried various gimmicks and situations for the 6’9″, 280 lb. brawler, including a tag team with Angelo Dawkins (who is now one half of The Street Profits) and as one of the original members of Eric Young‘s faction SaNitY. Originally the SaNitY partner of Alexander Wolfe in tag team matches, an injury removed him from the group (where he was ultimately replaced by Killian Dain). In November of 2017, he was released by the WWE.

Luckily, one of the many friends he made during his time in NXT was a man who went by Solomon Crowe. For those who don’t remember, Solomon Crowe was the NXT name for one Sami Callihan, who is now one of the main stars of IMPACT Wrestling since Callihan himself left NXT in 2015. Upon his release from the WWE, Fulton returned to the indies and only months later, began to run with his former NXT workmate. Last summer, he joined Callihan in Major League Wrestling (MLW) as part of Callihan’s MLW crew, The Death Machines, alongside Leon Scott. The trio took part in the MLW WarGames last September. But that wasn’t the last we’d see of Fulton with Callihan.

Fulton briefly appeared on IMPACT programming last year, facing Moose at the co-produced One Night Only with Rockstar Pro (the Ohio indie owned by Jake Crist), Ohio Versus Everythingthis past December. But it wasn’t until two recent IMPACT specials that we began to see an alliance brewing between the Ohio indie wrestler and the boys in oVe. On March 1, 2019, IMPACT and Rockstar Pro teamed up once again for a live Twitch special, Opening Day, that saw Fulton team with Dave Crist in a tag team fatal four-way match, that was won by the duo. Then at March 9, 2019’s One Night Only, a joint production with Al Snow‘s Ohio Valley Wrestling called Clash in the Bluegrass, Fulton once again teamed with oVe, as the partner with the Crist Brothers (alongside Desi Hit Squad‘s Rohit Raju as well) in an 8-man tag team match. Josh Matthews even mentioned Fulton as the newest member of oVe, and Fulton himself did Callihan’s trademark “thumbs down” in the ring.

The BCW page also referred to Fulton as “one of IMPACT’s new signees”, so it appears that Madman Fulton is going to be a new player with the company going forward, and is immediately going to be a new threat alongside his new oVe cohorts starting with this weekend’s tapings in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. And as an appetizer for the tapings results (which will start airing the following Friday), watch this Friday’s X-Division Championship Match between Rich Swann and Sami Callihan to see how the story continues…
