#AndNEW: Roppongi 3K Win IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Titles

On Wednesday at New Japan‘s 47th Anniversary Show, Roppongi 3K (SHO & YOH) defeated Los Ingobernables de Japon‘s BUSHI & Shingo Takagi to become 3x IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champions.

The tandem of Sho Tanaka and Yohei Komatsu have been tagging since their Young Lion days in 2013, but it wasn’t until an excursion to Ring of Honor and CMLL in 2016, where they were packaged as The Tempura Boyz that they began to fetch real attention.

They returned to New Japan in 2017 as Roppongi 3K, the new proteges of Rocky Romero, who is an 8x IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champion himself – 4x with Trent Baretta in Roppongi Vice, 2x with Alex Koslov in Forever Hooligans and 2x with Davey Richards in No Remorse Corps. It marks the third reign for SHO & YO in less than two years back with NJPW full time, and now the third most decorated team in New Japan history with three reigns. They are still one behind three teams tied for number two with four reigns (Roppongi Vice, Apollo 55 (Prince Devitt/Finn Balor & Ryusuke Taguchi) and Gedo & Jado) and four away from the all-time leaders, The Young Bucks, who have seven.
