Indie Watch: Homero Simpson

Indie Watch is our regular series that looks at all of the amazing talents working the independent circuits around the world. Some are veterans revitalizing their careers, some are indie prospects hitting their peaks, while others are names to be on the watch for! This edition looks at the comedic side of pro wrestling, to a masked luchador in Mexico who draws his inspiration from an American institution.

Yes, Virginia. There is a pro wrestler in Mexico that uses a Homer Simpson. And his name is Homero Simpson. Not much is known of this masked luchador from Pachuca, Mexico, but he became a bit of a viral internet sensation on Thursday when it was announced he’d be taking part in a big show with Mexa Wrestling in January, War of Styles.

While it seems like this man is an unknown, to most people outside of Mexico he is. But in Mexico, he’s been wrestling since at least 2015. He even appeared on a CMLL card back in 2015 where he teamed with wrestlers dressed as Bart and Lisa Simpson in a 6-man tag team match against the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Homero Simpson has worked several CMLL shows over the years in comedic segments/matches. And his feuds aren’t just with the Turtles – he’s also been known to squabble with Los Minions Morados.
