EVOLVE Announces IMPACT Tag Champs LAX For EVOLVE 117

Wrestling in 2018 is a very strange and beautiful place. Today EVOLVE Wrestling – one of the top US indies that recently rebooted with the announcement that WWE wrestlers from NXT and 205 Live would now be featured alongside EVOLVE contracted wrestlers – announced that current IMPACT Wrestling Tag Team Champions LAX (Santana & Ortiz) would be debuting with EVOLVE at EVOLVE 117 in their home turf of Queens, New York City on December 15.

With EVOLVE head Gabe Sapolsky now working as a consultant for NXT and a recent NXT invasion seeing NXT talents like Fabian Aichner win the EVOLVE Championship and The Street Profits win the EVOLVE Tag Team titles, EVOLVE is now assumed to be a new developmental for the WWE the way that Ultimate Pro Wrestling (UPW) did in the early 1990s. Free to develop and sign their own talent, but also a platform for WWE signees. The announcement of IMPACT Tag Team champs LAX is unique in that it sees a “rival” promotion having talent – and their champions no less – appear on a WWE allied card.

It’s yet to be announced who LAX will face, but seeing IMPACT talent appearing on an EVOLVE card is exciting none the less. The card already features NXT’s Kassius Ohno (formerly Chris Hero) vs. Darby Allin, and Aichner, Street Profits, and more.
