Joey Ryan Injured, May Have Torn Pectoral

At tonight’s taping for Major League Wrestling (MLW)‘s FIGHTLAND event, Joey Ryan announced that he’s got an injury and that it may be a torn pectoral muscle (the same injury that Triple H just went into surgery for). He’s heading into his doctor on Friday to find out the severity of the injury.

As a precaution, he’s had to cancel his dates this weekend with New Jersey’s Pro Wrestling After Dark on Friday and his weekend events in England with Southside Wrestling Entertainment (SWE). He’s also scheduled for his own Bar Wrestling promotion in Los Angeles next week, but the official diagnosis tomorrow will dictate his availability beyond the next 24 hours.

Hopefully, it doesn’t prove to be as bad as Triple H‘s recent injury, sustained last week at WWE Crown Jewel in his match with Shawn Michaels against The Undertaker & Kane. Triple H went in surgery earlier this week and is expected to be out the next six months.

It would be a huge blow to the indie renaissance of late, as the indie community also recently lost one of it’s biggest hearts and influences, Joey Janela, to a brutal knee injury that could potentially keep him out of the ring until 2020. Joey Ryan is the clown prince of pro wrestling and despite his detractors, is one of the most vocal supporters of intergender and women’s wrestling. But, like Janela is keeping busy doing commentary gigs with multiple promotions around the country (as well as working with Game Changer Wrestling for events like the upcoming Joey Janela’s LA Confidential), Joey Ryan will surely find things to keep himself occupied. His Bar Wrestling is becoming must-see fun in the West Coast scene and he could easily find work in the commentary game as well.

Here’s hoping the news tomorrow is the best case scenario and he’s back in the ring soon!
