Legendary UK television program World of Sports returned to television tonight on ITV in the United Kingdom, and the series returned with a bang. Following a one-off special in 2016, which saw Scottish star Grado win the World of Sports (WOS) Championship, the series officially relaunched tonight, with a new general manager, Stu Bennett (formerly Wade Barrett in WWE and former general manager of Defiant Wrestling). In the program’s main event, WOS Champion put his title on the line against reigning Defiant World Champion Rampage Brown and Pro Evolution (EVW) and New Generation Wrestling (NGW) star Justin Sysum in a triple threat. At the end of the match, Rampage became holder of this third UK major, as the new WOS Champion (he’s also the current 3 Count Wrestling (3CW) Champion).

In other news out of the debut episode of the rebooted series, the WOS Tag Team Title Tournament got under way, with the team of UK veteran Iestyn Rees (former IPW:UK, Preston City Wrestling (PCW), and EVW Champion) and emerging star Kip Sabian defeating the Defiant tandem of Joe Hendry and Martin Kirby to advance. In singles action, Davey Boy Smith Jr. defeated Will Ospreay.

By all accounts the show was a success and looks to take the early lead in getting the new breed of BritWrestle on mainstream television, debuting the same night that WWE began taping for NXT UK. Several World of Sport wrestlers tweeted their enthusiasm for World of Sports being back on TV.
Hope you all enjoyed the 1st @WOSWrestling!
Gutted to have lost the title (after holding it for 574 days, on my 1st defence ???)…. BUT delighted British Wrestling is back on the telly and it looks like the response has been SUPERB ?
