Preview: PROGRESS Chapter 73 Fourth Shade of Green (7/15/18)

PROGRESS makes a pit stop in Birmingham where we have a great card but nothing of major consequence.  PROGRESS Chapter 73: Fourth Shade of Green will be a nice show to jump in on if you are looking to get back into PROGRESS or have yet to watch a show.

Match 1: Eddie Dennis vs. Danny Jones

A battle between two Welshmen at PROGRESS Chapter 73,  Dennis returns to singles competition for the first time since December when he failed to capture the PROGRESS Championship.  The 22-year-old Jones is looking for his first win in PROGRESS to cap off his breakout year, where he has cemented his status as a future star.  What better way to win your first match on such a big stage, than to beat one of the two biggest names in the Welsh Wrestling scene.  Dennis will look to show the youngster what it takes to succeed and Jones is out to take out the veteran.

Match 2: Toni Storm vs Killer Kelly

Storm makes her first PROGRESS appearance since losing her women’s title.  Since her last appearance, she has challenged for the NXT Women’s Championship, lost the World Of Stardom championship and been confirmed as one of the NXT UK roster members.  The young star’s career is about to take off and she would love to take the PROGRESS women’s title with her.  Kelly also appeared on the WWE UK special wrestling Charlie Morgan and has been having a breakout year in Europe.  Having debuted in 2016, Kelly made a name in mainland Europe before making her impact on the UK scene this year.  A match between two WWE contracted women on an independent wrestling show is a rarity and these two are talented to boot.

Match 3: British Strong Style (Trent Seven & Pete Dunne) vs Kings Of The North (Damian Corvin & Bonesaw)

Photo: PROGRESS

After 18 months away, the Kings Of The North return to PROGRESS wrestling at PROGRESS Chapter 73.  The three-time OTT Tag Team Champions faced the London Riots in a losing effort previously but have put on great wars with BSS before in OTT, both in Dublin and in Belfast.  KOTN face the original British Strong Style in Trent Seven and Pete Dunne.  WWE UK champion Dunne and multi-time tag champion Seven are two awesome tag team wrestlers with great chemistry.  If you love tag team wrestling, this one will be an all-out brawl and feature great tag sequences in the ring.

Match 4: TK Cooper vs Rob Lynch

Photo: PROGRESS

Cooper has made Atlas division weight and sets his sights on the Atlas title.  While his intentions are probably to spite former champion WALTER, he still adds some much-needed spice to the division.  His opponent is the former tag specialist and Atlas mainstay Rob Lynch.  Lynch represents everything the Atlas division should be, hard-hitting, athletic, technical prowess and a love of a good hoss fight.  Two tag specialists squaring off is always interesting, but neither of these guys are a slouch in the ring.

Match 5: No Disqualification Match: Jimmy Havoc vs Drew Parker

With his match with Will Ospreay off the table for Wembley, Havoc is stuck in limbo.  This match could happen at any time though, meaning Havoc needs to rediscover his previous form sooner rather than later.  Facing heir apparent and fellow deathmatch wrestler Drew Parker at PROGRESS Chapter 73 will only aid his goal.  Havoc in a hardcore setting is like nothing else in the UK and a win will see him gain more momentum as he looks to return to the upper echelons of PROGRESS.

Match 6: Sexy Starr (David Starr vs Jack Sexsmith) vs Mark Haskins & Flash Morgan Webster

Photo: PROGRESS

This match is not only a match in the Tag Team Series, it is another chance for revenge for Jack Sexsmith.  Haskins turned on the PROGRESS fans when he and Jimmy Havoc joined forces and beat down Sexsmith.  Ever since, Sexsmith has taken any chance he can get for revenge.  Replacing Havoc is Morgan Webster, who is finally buying into the heel unit’s methods and has lost his morals in the name of winning.  There is a history to this match, as well as the added prize of points in the Tag Team Series.

Match 7: Mark Andrews vs. El Phantasmo

Photo: PROGRESS

Do you like flips? Well, this match is for you.  ELP is a fun wrestler who made his name in ATTACK! and has since performed for OTT, Fight Club: Pro, New Japan Pro Wrestling, and Revolution Pro Wrestling.  The Canadian high flier can pull off come highly athletic moves and has an affinity to EDM, which fits a UK indie show so well.  His opponent is PROGRESS legend Mark Andrews, a WWE UK contracted talent that is among the best high fliers in the world.  A win for ELP would firmly establish his place on the PROGRESS roster but Andrews is still looking to become the second ever 2-time PROGRESS World Champion.

Match 8: Travis Banks vs Tyler Bate

Photo: PROGRESS

How things change.  One year ago these men faced off in the final of Super Strong Style 16 when Bate was a heel and had only just lost his WWE UK championship.  Banks won the previous match and cashed in his title shot to win the PROGRESS World Championship.  Since then, he has lost the faith of the crowd, who have turned on him.  The last match between these guys was a blow away match and this one will certainly live up to the expectations.
