SPOILERS: Lucha Underground Tapings Feature Debuting Stars (And Returns)

Lucha Underground began tapings for the highly anticipated fourth season this Friday night and while match details will not be disclosed, this article will name wrestlers who debuted with (or returned to) Lucha Underground at their new temple for the upcoming season. More detailed spoilers on match ups were originally broken by Pro Wrestling Sheet. Also, wrestling podcast Wrestling Heads Radio posted a photograph of the inside of the new temple on Friday night.

TOMMY DREAMER

The ECW Original and “Innovator of Violence” makes his Lucha Underground debut. It was only a matter of time, as Dreamer continues to work with every promotion out there – in the past two years, he’s appeared for the WWE, Impact Wrestling, and Ring of Honor, not to mention many indies like Bar Wrestling, Smash Wrestling, IPW:UK, CWF Mid-Atlantic, and WHAT Wrestling, as well as his own promotion, House of Hardcore.

HERNANDEZ

Shawn Hernandez was a regular cast member for the first season of Lucha Underground, but was terminated when he breached his contract and appeared for Impact Wrestling during the season (which is ironic, now that LU and Impact have a talent sharing deal in place). The former 5x Impact Tag Team Champion and LAX Original has spent the past three years with AAA in Mexico, and now returns to Lucha Underground for the fourth season. It will be interesting to see if he returns to Impact, perhaps to either join or feud with his old faction, LAX.

CHAVO GUERRERO JR.

Not entirely unexpected, but Chavo Guerrero Jr. was seemingly written out of LU last season early on, when he lost a “Loser Loves Lucha Underground” match against Rey Mysterio Jr. Oddly enough, as Guerrero returns for the fourth season, the man who beat him in the Loser Leaves Town match is not.

JESSIE GODDERZ

The former “Mr. Pectacular” from Impact Wrestling and 2x Impact Tag Team Champion with Robbie E in the BroMans also made his LU debut on Friday night.

SAMMY GUEVARA

The 24-year old was a breakout star in 2017, gaining national exposure and critical acclaim for his work in WrestleCircus, EVOLVE and Full Impact Pro, as well as competing in his first PWG Battle of Los Angeles. Guevara is a natural for the LU world and could potentially help fill part of the void of losing Prince Puma (Ricochet).

JASON CADE

Another indie star on the rise, 26-year old Jason Cade has been building a solid resume of outstanding matches the last few years in PWG, MLW, Full Impact Pro, PWX, WrestleCircus, Smash Wrestling, and more. He even appeared on last year’s Destination X special for Impact Wrestling, teaming with Zachary Wentz against OvE (Dave & Jake Crist).

SONNY KISS

“The Concrete Rose” Sonny Kiss made his LU debut on Friday, under the name Exoliciuous. With his flamboyant drag gimmick, he would fit in with the traditional exótico style of lucha libre, as previously seen on LU with Pimpinela Escarlata. Pimpinela was featured heavily in the first season, but his character was absent for the entire second season and only made his LU return during last year’s finales, Ultima Lucha Tres in the “Unique Opportunity” Battle Royal. Sonny Kiss works primarily with New York’s Warriors of Wrestling (WOW), but has also worked for Tier-1 Wrestling, NYWC and Canadian indies Lucha In The 6 (formerly LuchaTO) and Ottawa’s C4.
