BREAKING: Brock Lesnar To Be Son of Ivan Drago?

EDITOR’S NOTE: After dwelling on this for the day, it looks like apparently several news sites (including us) may have misread Stallone’s original post. Initially, many assumed that Stallone was referring to Brock Lesnar as the “new unknown” in a sarcastic manner, as it was followed by a “…” lead-up to Lesnar’s name in hashtags. Upon consideration, it seems more likely that Stallone meant that it is an unknown actor portraying the part of Victor Drago and that Lesnar’s photoshop photo he used was what he meant by “this is just for entertainment.”

Earlier this afternoon, Sylvester Stallone posted a strange photo to promote an announcement about the future of the Rocky franchise, currently advancing through the new Creed lineage.

BREAKING: Brock Lesnar To Be Son of Ivan Drago?

The photo clearly shows Rocky Balboa facing off against Brock Lesnar in the ring, with Lesnar hash tagged in the photo. The announcement ended up being the official confirmation of Creed II, the sequel to the first film following Apollo Creed’s son, mentored by Rocky Balboa. On the far left, you can see the last letters of Dolph Lundgren‘s name, which seems to confirm rumours that Rocky’s rival from Rocky IV, the Russian super boxer Ivan Drago, will be returning to the Rocky universe. With both Balboa and Drago too old to be fighters, and producers of Creed II putting out a casting call for a fighter with MMA experience according to PWInsider, the hashtag of Brock Lesnar could be a strong indication that Stallone, a devoted WWE fan and friend, could be eyeing “The Beast Incarnate” to portray Ivan Drago’s son in a showdown with Apollo’s son, Adonis Creed, portrayed by actor Michael B. Jordan.
