It’s been a strange few weeks for indie promotions in North America. First WrestleCircus went dark following a cancelled event last month, then Michael Elgin sold Glory Pro and abruptly quit Social Media following a sexual assault scandal in the promotion, and now Mexico’s top indie promotion, The Crash Lucha, has announced that Konnan has been removed from his position as head booker and creative director and is no longer with the company, seemingly citing “not being able to comply to the Crash Lucha Libre code of ethics”.

The Crash Lucha Libre brand is known for the way we treat people and value each and every single person that works in this company. Bettering the economical and habitual needs. Showing the support for each element and giving opportunity to new talent.
In this way, the value and professionalism shown between each of its partners.
Not being able to comply to the Crash Lucha Libre code of ethic, is something that we do not tolerate in this company.
With that being said, We not announce that Carlos Santiago Espada “Konnan”, will no longer be working with The Crash.
We thank him for the time and support and wish him the best in his future endeavors.
We will be announcing the dates for 2018 with the best matches and our debut in the United States.

Konnan was dismissed from a similar position from AAA back in 2016 (which resulted in him leaving Lucha Underground as well) and moved to The Crash Lucha shortly after, which lead to several AAA talents following him to The Crash as well (most notably Pentagon Jr and Fenix). Last month, it was announced that Konnan was taking over as the creative director and booker for a new US-based lucha promotion, Aro Lucha, produced by Aroluxe, the media company that previously helped finance Impact Wrestling last year.
There’s been no official comment from Konnan as of yet, and no word on how this may affect the alliance between Crash Lucha and Impact Wrestling, although Konnan managed to work with Impact despite an alliance with another former employer of his, in AAA.
