New York Jets superstar safety Jamal Adams has been at the center of quite a bit of offseason discussion. Throughout the course of the past few months, the former first-round pick reportedly wanted out of New York and had plenty of suitors. While teams like the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles are hoping to strike a deal, running back Le’Veon Bell said that he expects Adams to remain with the Jets in the upcoming season.

Jamal Adams Trade Rumors: Le’Veon Bell Thinks Adams Will Stay

Speaking on Hot 97 Radio, Bell noted that he believes that Adams wants to be with the Jets. This is an interesting observation, as most of the offseason discourse surrounding Adams steps from his perceived frustration with the organization. Rumors throughout the league state that Adams wants to play for a contender and isn’t on the best of terms with head coach Adam Gase.

Adams is currently entering his fourth year in the NFL. In most circumstances, the safety would be entering the final year of his rookie deal before hitting free agency. However, since he was a first-round pick, the team used a fifth-year option to keep him in town through 2021. If the Jets so desired, they could keep him for two additional seasons with the franchise tag.

This is very much a make-or-break season for the New York Jets. New York struggled to a 7-9 record last year despite quarterback Sam Darnold missing part of the season with mono. During the offseason, the team made a notable effort to improve the offensive line and supporting cast in both free agency and the draft. With Tom Brady in Tampa Bay, the Jets finally have a chance to win the AFC East, although the odds are still not in their favor. If they’re to pull off a surprising division victory, they’ll need their superstar safety on the field.
