Xavier Rhodes, Linval Joseph Highlight Veteran Releases

Xavier Rhodes, Linval Joseph, and other veterans were released Friday. Though sports have stopped due to the Coronavirus, NFL front offices are still busy.

All sports are currently at a stand still due to the coronavirus. However, NFL front offices are still quite busy. Just today, multiple teams have released players and the list could grow. Xavier Rhodes and other former pro bowlers are now free agents. How they will go about visiting potential teams in the coming days and weeks is unknown at this time, but they’ll have their work cut out for them.

Xavier Rhodes

Rhodes is a three-time pro bowler. He was drafted by the Minnesota Vikings in the first round of the 2013 NFL draft. After strong years in 2016 and 2017, his level of play has dropped off. The 29-year-old was set to make $10.5 million in 2020.

Linval Joseph

Joseph was also released by the Vikings on Friday. The two-time Pro Bowler was a part of the New York Giants Super Bowl-winning team from the 2011 season. He was with the Vikings since 2014 and is now 31 years old. He was set to make $11.7 million in the 2020 season.

Delanie Walker

Delanie Walker is a long-time tight end that has dealt with injuries the past few seasons. He had a 1,000-yard season in 2015, but is now 35 and can’t stay on the field. Walker was a member of the Tennessee Titans each of his three pro bowl seasons (2015-2017).

Ryan Succop

Ryan Succop was also a member of the Tennessee Titans. He’s an 11-year veteran kicker with a long of 54 yards. Succop played in just six games in 2019 due to injury.

Cordy Glenn

Cordy Glenn was an offensive tackle for the Cincinnati Bengals for the past two seasons. Glenn played in just six games in 2019 due to injury and discipline issues.

Rick Wagner

Rick Wagner was released by the Detriot Lions after spending three seasons with the team. He played and started in 12 games in 2019. He was set to make $9 million in 2020 but is a cap casualty.

Thomas Davis

Thomas Davis is a 36-year-old veteran linebacker. He played for the Carolina Panthers from 2005 to 2018 and last season with the Los Angeles Chargers. Davis made the pro bowl three times (2015-2017).

Brandon Mebane

Brandon Mebane is another member of the Los Angeles Chargers that was cut Friday. The 35-year-old defensive tackle was also a member of the 2013 Super Bowl Champion Seattle Seahawks team.
