Matt Breida Signs One-Year Tender With San Francisco 49ers
Matt Breida initially entered the league in 2017 as an undrafted free agent. Matt Breida did not attend the NFL Combine. His stats took a hit his senior year when first-time head coach Tyson Summers switch to a triple-option offense. Breida averaged better than eight yards a carry as a sophomore and junior, but his senior year it was cut in half. Despite not getting an NFL combine invite he impressed at his pro day. He ran a 4.38 40, put up 23 reps on the bench, and broad jumped 11 feet and two inches. It wasn’t enough for an NFL team to draft him. In three seasons at Georgia Southern, Breida ran for 3740 yards and 37 touchdowns.
In total, Breida has been with the 49ers for three seasons. Breida rushed for 1902 yards and six touchdowns during his career as a 49er. He’s also caught 67 passes for 561 yards and four touchdowns. “The Cheetah” is remarkably fast and has quick feet. He finds the holes and reaches the second level very quickly. At 5-11 and 200 pounds, he can also be a handful for defensive backs in the open field.
Breida has excellent speed and can change direction very well. He would be a great change of pace back and can also serve as a three-down back.
