The votes have been submitted, and the selections will soon be revealed. 2020’s Pro Football Hall of Fame class will be announced tonight, and a former Pittsburgh Steelers player will reportedly be one of the members. A tweet by Adam Schefter has indicated that Steelers safety Troy Polamalu has been selected for the Hall of Fame in his first year on the ballot.

Troy Polamalu Selected to Hall of Fame
Widely considered one of the greatest safeties in NFL history, it is no surprise to see Troy Polamalu selected as a first ballot hall of famer. During his 12 years in the black and gold, he accumulated many honors and assembled a highlight reel of big plays.
Polamalu was voted a first team all-pro four times in his career and was selected to the second team twice. Eight times, the safety was selected to the Pro Bowl. In 2010, Polamalu earned defensive player of the year honors for his incredible play. He is a member of the 2000s all-decade team and the Steelers all-time team. Most important of all, Troy Polamalu was a two-time Super Bowl champion in his illustrious year.
One word that is always associated with Troy Polamalu is “instincts.” His highlights of perfectly timing the snap and leaping over the offensive line to stop a QB sneak will never be forgotten. He has a highlight reel of impressive interceptions. Former teammates and coaches rave that Polamalu just had a knack for always being around the ball. Six times over his 12 years, the Steelers had a top-three defense in the NFL. Each of those years, Polamalu was the best player on the defense. There likely will never be another safety with the instincts, football IQ, and all-around talent that Troy Polamalu possessed. He was more than deserving of being a first ballot inductee.
