After 15 weeks of action, the fantasy football championship is finally here for the vast majority of leagues. Whether you’re looking to take home a title or just avoid coming in last, now is the time to pick up the best remaining defense on the waiver wire. Heading into Week 16, you should set your eyes on the Denver Broncos, Atlanta Falcons, and Houston Texans
Note that in order to make this list, the defense had to be available in over 50% of fantasy leagues. If you’re in smaller leagues, there may be better players available. Make sure to check your waivers to see if there are any diamonds in the rough before submitting your claims.

Denver Broncos, Atlanta Falcons Highlight Fantasy Football Week 16 Defense Waiver Wire Streams
Denver Broncos
The Broncos have a decent defense, but they could look like the 1985 Chicago Bears in Week 16. David Blough had an encouraging first start against the Chicago Bears but has looked hopelessly outmatched ever since that first game. He doesn’t have a great arm and won’t have Marvin Jones for the second straight week. Von Miller should feast on Detroit’s underwhelming offensive line while Chris Harris and company should be able to handle coverage responsibilities and maybe haul in a few underthrown passes. If you’re lucky, you just might get a pick-six.
Atlanta Falcons
The Atlanta Falcons defense isn’t good by any stretch of the imagination, but they have the ability to slow down good teams. Last week, they held the San Francisco 49ers to 23 points and should do ever better against a directionless Jacksonville Jaguars team. Gardner Minshew pulled off a last-second comeback against the Oakland Raiders last week, but he was bad for the majority of the contest. With or without D.J. Chark, the Falcons should be able to slow down Jacksonville’s offense and coax Minshew into making a few mistakes.
Houston Texans
Any time your defense plays against Jameis Winston, it’s best to just not watch. Winston is simultaneously the best and worst quarterback in the league, capable of tearing apart every secondary in the league while also throwing some of the worst interceptions you’ll ever see. Winston is going to make plays and put up points, but he’s also going to throw a bunch of dumb interceptions and walk into some sacks. Even with Tampa’s high volatility, it’s safe to bet on the Texans getting at least one or two turnovers in this one.
Truly Desperate: Washington Redskins
Don’t do this unless you truly have no other option. The Washington Redskins are probably the worst defense in the league and haven’t shown an ability to stop anything through the air or on the ground. However, they face the New York Giants in Week 16 and could be a decent play if Daniel Jones is back under center. Jones has put together a few nice plays as a rookie but has atrocious ball security. Whether it’s throwing into tight windows or just not sensing pressure, Jones has a propensity for turning the ball over at a high rate. Washington could luck themselves into a few turnovers if Jones returns to action.
