Fantasy Football Week 15 Running Back Waiver Wire Claims: Raheem Mostert, Adrian Peterson

14 weeks of NFL action are officially in the books, which means it’s time for the fantasy football playoffs. Whether you’re looking to take home a championship or just avoid coming in last, now is the time to search the waiver wire for all the best available wide receivers. Heading into Week 15, you should set your eyes on Raheem Mostert, Adrian PetersonBilal Powell, Alexander Mattison, and Darwin Thompson.

Note that in order to make this list, the player had to be available in over 50% of fantasy leagues. If you’re in smaller leagues, there may be better players available. Make sure to check your waivers to see if there are any diamonds in the rough before submitting your claims.

Raheem Mostert, Adrian Peterson Highlight Fantasy Football Week 15 Running Back Waiver Wire Claims

Raheem Mostert

Raheem Mostert is clearly the best running back in San Francisco and should be the lead back moving forward. During Sunday’s shootout against the New Orleans Saints, Mostert recorded 10 carries for 69 yards and one touchdown to go along with two receptions for 40 yards and another touchdown. This came just one game after recording 146 rushing yards and a touchdown against Baltimore.

You can still roster Matt Breida, but he’s going to have a limited ceiling. Breida recorded six carries for 58 yards, so he’ll still see him fair share of work. Tevin Coleman, meanwhile, probably won’t carry too much fantasy relevance for the rest of the season.

Adrian Peterson

Derrius Guice suffered yet another injury in Week 14’s loss to the Green Bay Packers, opening up the door for Adrian Peterson to once again be fantasy-relevant. As of this posting, nobody knows the exact severity of Guice’s injury. However, this is his third serious injury in his two years in the league, so you should approach your waiver wire as if Guice is going to miss some time. Peterson isn’t going to be too efficient, but he’ll see a lot of work in Washington’s run-heavy attack. That alone makes him worthy of a flex play.

Bilal Powell

Bilal Powell only carries fantasy relevance if Le’Veon Bell misses another week of action. Bell came down with an illness prior to Week 14, and Powell recorded 19 carries for 74 yards in his absence. Additionally, Powell added another two receptions for 14 yards in the passing game. Powell won’t have any value if Bell returns in Week 15, but he’ll be a solid flex play if Bell needs another week to recover.

Alexander Mattison

Dalvin Cook played in Week 14, but he still split a lot of carries with Alexander Mattison. In total, the rookie recorded 14 carries for 46 yards while Cook received 18 carries for 62 yards and a touchdown. Cook might see a larger role as he gets healthier, but this could be a sign of things to come. Don’t start Mattison in Week 15, but hold him for championship weekend. If this truly is a committee approach, or if Cook re-aggravates his injury, Mattison is going to have starting potential.

Darwin Thompson

Darrel Williams is done for the season, and nobody knows when Damien Williams is coming back from injury. Assuming Williams misses another week of action, Darwin Thompson is going to carry some fantasy value. LeSean McCoy took the majority of the carries, but Thompson was the clear favorite in the passing game. In total, Thompson recorded four receptions for 36 yards on five targets to go along with seven yards on four carries. He managed to do this against the New England Patriots, so his production should increase their Week 15 foe, the Denver Broncos. Thompson doesn’t have the highest upside in the world, but he could be a flex play in deeper PPR leagues.
