Four weeks of NFL play are officially in the books, which means bye weeks are in full swing. Gone are the days where you could just coast by on a strong draft. Now more than ever, you’ll need to search the waiver wire for all the best available wide receivers. Heading into Week 5, you should set your eyes on Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Courtland Sutton, and Keke Coutee.
Note that in order to make this list, the player had to be available in over 50% of fantasy leagues. If you’re in smaller leagues, there may be better players available. Make sure to check your waivers to see if there are any diamonds in the rough before submitting your claims.

Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Courtland Sutton Highlight Top Fantasy Football Week 5 Wide Receiver Waiver Wire Claims
Marquez Valdes-Scantling (48.6% owned)
Somehow, Green Bay Packers wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling is still available in half of all fantasy league. The Packers wide receiver should be rostered in every league, but that’s especially true now that Davante Adams might not suit up in Week 5. Green Bay’s stud receiver suffered a foot injury and, while it’s not expected to be serious, he could still miss a week or two of action.
Valdes-Scantling is going to be Aaron Rodgers’ top outside receiver, and Rodgers loves throwing towards the sidelines. The Dallas Cowboys won’t be a favorable matchup, but MVS should be able to put up a WR2 performance with touchdown upside if Davante Adams can’t go next week.
Courtland Sutton (41.5% owned)
Courtland Sutton is starting to play a larger part in the Denver Broncos passing attack. Emmanuel Sanders is still the 1, but Sutton might be the 1B as the season progresses. In Week 4, Sutton tied Sanders for the team lead in targets (nine) while hauling in a team-leading six receptions for 62 yards and two touchdowns.
Sutton is an athletic freak, has draft pedigree, and is clearly getting better on a week-to-week basis. Joe Flacco isn’t good enough for Sutton to be a weekly plug-and-play starter, but he should be able to make some plays against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 5.
Deep Play: Keke Coutee
If you’re in a deeper league and don’t have many available options on the open market, take a look at Houston Texans wide receiver Keke Coutee. Coutee spent the majority of the season as the fourth wide receiver on the depth chart, but Kenny Stills suffered a hamstring injury midway through Week 4’s action. Coutee started seeing the field in three-receiver sets and has the potential to put up some fantasy points in PPR formats. He’s not an ideal play by any means, but he could be a good add in 12- and 14-team leagues.
