Jacksonville Jaguars, Chris Conley Agree To Deal
Chris Conley spent the 2018 season as the third receiver on the top-ranked offense in football. Serving as a complementary weapon behind Tyreek Hill and Sammy Watkins, the 26-year old receiver recorded 32 receptions for 334 yards and five touchdowns. Conley appeared in all 16 games, starting 13.
Conley initially entered the league as a third-round pick in the 2015 NFL Draft. Selected by the Kansas City Chiefs, Conley appeared in all 16 games as a rookie, earning five starts. During his time on the field, the rookie recorded 17 receptions for 199 yards and one touchdown.
Conley built on his rookie year by expanding his role in 2016. Conley once again appeared in all 16 games, but this time he earned 11 starts. While on the field, Conley recorded 44 receptions for 530 yards and no touchdowns. Unfortunately, injuries limited Conley to just five games in 2017. During his abbreviated season, Conley recorded 11 receptions for 175 yards.
Throughout the course of his five-year NFL career, Conley has recorded 104 receptions for 1,238 yards and six touchdowns. His best season likely came in 2016 when he recorded career-highs in yards (530) and receptions (44). However, Conley did finish 2018 with the touchdown receptions of his career (five).
Conley is far from the only big name signed by the Jacksonville Jaguars this off-season. On the first day of free agency, the Jaguars signed quarterback Nick Foles to a five-year, $82.5 million contract to serve as the starter. Additionally, Jacksonville has also released quarterback Blake Bortles and defensive tackle Malik Jackson this off-season.
