Linebacker Denzel Perryman has signed a new two-year contract with the Los Angeles Chargers. His new contract keeps with the team through 2020. Perryman had spent the first four years of his career with the Chargers.

Denzel Perryman Signs New Contract With Los Angeles Chargers
Perryman has had a bit of a frustrating career. This is mainly due to how often he’s been injured. When he’s been on the field, he’s been a tackling leader for the Chargers defense and also one of their better linebackers. But in the last two years, he’s only played 16 games. It would be interesting to see what he could do if he could play a full season.
In the 2018 season, he played only nine games before being put on injured reserve with a knee injury. In the nine games he did play, he got in on the tackle 51 times with 30 of those being solo tackles. He did not have any sacks, but he did pull down an interception. As noted earlier, he contributed when he was out on the field, but his season was unfortunately cut short.
Perryman played football in high school at Coral Gables Senior High School in Florida. He then played football in college with the Miami Hurricanes. While he was there, he made first-team All-ACC twice in 2013 and 2014. He also made third-team All-American in 2014 as well, marking a quite successful senior year for him.
Perryman was drafted in 2015 by the Chargers (while they were still in San Diego) in the 2nd round with the 48th pick. His rookie season saw him play the most games he’s ever played in one season (14). Thus far in his career, he has put up 233 tackles (175 of them solo), four sacks, two interceptions, and one forced fumble. He will be looking once again to have a bounce-back season in 2019 and stay healthy.
