The Jacksonville Jaguars are adding to their kicking depth. Just two days before the last home game of the season the team has signed free agent kicker Kai Forbath. Josh Lambo is dealing with a groin injury and this could be a sign that he won’t suit up on Sunday. Forbath most recently played for the Minnesota Vikings.

Kai Forbath Signs With the Jacksonville Jaguars
It’s not too often that you see a team signing players this late in the season, except for injuries. And that is the reason for this signing. Jaguars kicker Josh Lambo has reportedly been dealing with a groin injury. To this point, Lambo is 19 of 21 on field goals this year and 19 of 20 on extra points.
Forbath played his previous two seasons on the Vikings and was decent for them. In 2017, Forbath made 32 field goals on 38 attempts. He also made three out of four field goal attempts in last years playoffs. In fact, Forbath had nine attempts of over 50 yards last season and made six of them.
Forbath is obviously not coming to Jacksonville to supplant Josh Lambo as the starting kicker. But he’s got talent so he’s a good add should Lambo not be able to suit up in any of the remaining three Jags games. Lambo is currently questionable for Sunday’s match up against the Washington Redskins. If Forbath happens to see action for the team on Sunday, he may be called upon often. The Jaguars offense hasn’t exactly been stellar at moving the chains as of late. Since Cody Kessler has taken over, the offense has been sluggish, but has also produced less turnovers. With two struggling offenses, the game could come down to field goals. If that happens, let’s hope Forbath is ready, should he need to be there in Lambo’s stead.
