Kansas City Chiefs Release Kareem Hunt

Kansas City Chiefs running back Kareem Hunt is officially on his way out of town. Kansas City announced that they are going to release the second-year running back after leaked footage came out of Hunt back in February. TMZ released a video which showed Hunt assaulting a woman in a hotel hallway. ESPN’s Adam Schefter first had the news.

Kansas City Chiefs Release Running Back Kareem Hunt

As previously mentioned, TMZ first released the leaked video earlier today. I won’t link to it, as the video is particularly disturbing, but feel free to look it up for yourself. In the video, Hunt got into a heated argument with a woman and repeatedly shoved her. Making matters even worse, Hunt proceeded to go to the woman and literally kick her while she was down.

While the event occurred back in February, the Kansas City Chiefs organization was reportedly unaware of the event’s occurrence. While the Chiefs knew Hunt was involved in some altercation, the hotel itself refused to issue the video. Hunt reportedly lied about the severity of the event and Kansas City had no reason to doubt his testimony.

In addition to losing his job, Hunt has also been placed on the Commisioner’s Exempt list. While on this list, Hunt won’t be allowed to practice, play, or even attend NFL games. The league will reinvestigate the case, this time with the updated evidence. For the time being, it looks like Hunt’s NFL career is on hold.

Hunt’s terrible actions likely puts an end to one of the more promising young careers in the game. After leading the league in rushing yards as a rookie, Hunt picked up where he left off in 2018. Through 11 games, Hunt recorded 824 rushing yards and eight touchdowns on 181 carries. Additionally, Hunt added an additional 26 receptions for 378 yards and seven touchdowns. He was one of the most dynamic players in the game, but the league has no place for a person like Hunt. With any luck, Hunt’s career will be over for good.
