The NFL week four injury update once again has some star players that have ended up on the injury list. Including two franchise quarterbacks in Cam Newton and Carson Palmer who both suffered concussions in their teams week four losses. Week four also saw another season-ending injury, this time to NaVorro Bowman of the San Francisco 49ers. Below is a round up of some of the other injuries that took place in week four of NFL season.

NFL Week Four Injury Update

Arizona Cardinals – Carson Palmer

Quarterback Carson Palmer suffered a concussion during the Arizona Cardinals week four loss to the Los Angeles Rams. On Monday, however, head coach Bruce Arians said that he’s “more optimistic” about Palmer being cleared to play by Thursday when they take on the San Francisco 49ers. If Palmer isn’t cleared, or is unable to go, then backup quarterback Drew Stanton would get the start.

Carolina Panthers – Cam Newton

The status for Panthers quarterback Cam Newton heading into Monday Night’s game with their divisional rivals, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, is in question. Newton suffered a concussion in the Panthers 48-33 loss to the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday.

Newton, who’s been taking big shots all season, particularly to the head, took another one at the goal line by Falcons linebacker Deion Jonesin which Newton scored. The Panthers loss dropped the 2015 NFC Champions to 1-3 on the young season, making Monday Night’s game with the Buccaneers an important one. If Newton is unable to play, then backup quarterback Derek Anderson would get the start.

San Francisco 49ers – NaVarro Bowman

San Francisco’s linebacker, NaVarro Bowman, suffered a season-ending Achilles injury during their week four loss to the Dallas Cowboys. This is Bowman’s second career-threatening injury he has suffered. Back in 2013, the four-time All Pro tore his ACL and MCL during the NFC Championship game, forcing him to miss the entire 2014 NFL season.

Through the first four games of the season, Bowman had 35 tackles, one sack, three passes defended, one interception and one forced fumble. His presence on the field will be sorely missed.

New York Jets – Derrelle Revis

The Jets future Hall of Fame cornerback, Derrelle Revis, has what is being called a mild hamstring strain, and his availability for Sunday’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers is in question.

The Jets head coach, Todd Bowles, said Revis had an MRI, which revealed the strain, but according to Revis, he says he feels a little better than he did after the game. With Ben Roethlisberger coming off a five touchdown performance against the Kansas City Chiefs, the Jets could sure use Revis’ services come Sunday.

Denver Broncos – Trevor Siemian

Broncos quarterback Trevor Siemian suffered a sprained AC joint in his non-throwing (left) shoulder during their win against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday. Siemian injured his shoulder when he was slammed to the turf on a sack by Buccaneers defensive tackle Clinton McDonald.

Paxton Lynch, the Broncos first-round pick in this year’s draft, came in relief of Siemian, and helped to guide Denver to their victory over Tampa Bay. But even with Lynch’s solid play, and Siemian listed as day-to-day, head coach Gary Kubiak expects Siemian to play Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons.

New York Jets – Matt Forte

According to multiple reports, Jets running back Matt Forte was escorted to the x-ray room following the Jets 27-17 loss to the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday. It’s not clear whether Forte injured his hamstring, or aggravated an old knee injury. As of now, head coach Todd Bowles has no information regarding Forte’s status.
