Week one of the fantasy season is in the books. The spotlight had some good calls and some bad calls last week. We hit with Zach Ertz, Delanie Walker, Todd Gurley and the Los Angeles Rams defense. We took a swing and missed with the Brian Hoyer to Marquise Goodwin stack. Those are all in the past and it’s now time for our week two DraftKings players to target for your DFS lineups.
Fantasy Spotlight: Week Two DraftKings Targets
Quarterback
Russell Wilson: Seattle Seahawks vs San Francisco 49ers
Salary: $6,800
Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks will bounce back from a very pedestrian week one performance. While the offensive line still has its problems, the fact remains that the 49ers are not any good. In two games against the 49ers last year Wilson threw for over 500 yards with two touchdowns, zero interceptions and was only sacked three times.
Matt Ryan: Atlanta Falcons vs Green Bay Packers
Salary: $7,500
Matt Ryan was very efficient in last week’s opening win in Chicago against the Bears. He completed 21 of 30 passes for 321 yards and a touchdown. Last year against the Packers in week eight, Ryan completed 80 percent of his passes for 288 yards and three touchdowns. Oh and lets not forget his amazing performance in the NFC Championship game last year. The Packers defense remains suspect. Ryan should light it up Sunday night in the Falcons first regular season home game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
Other Notables: Derek Carr $7,200, Jameis Winston $6,300 and Joe Flacco $5,200
Running Back
Ty Montgomery: Green Bay Packers at Atlanta Falcons
Salary: $5,800
Last week against a very tough Seattle Seahawks defense, Ty Montgomery proved he is the undisputed number one back in Green Bay. He ran for 54 hard yards on 19 carries and a touchdown, also adding four catches for 39 yards. There will be no shortage of points in this game, making Montgomery a great DraftKings play.
Mark Ingram: New Orleans Saints vs New England Patriots
Salary: $4,900
Despite a crowded backfield in New Orleans, Mark Ingram offers some very good value this week in DraftKings. He only ran for 17 yards against a tough Minnesota Vikings defense, but he caught all five of his targets for 54 yards. This should be another high scoring game and with so much attention going to Alvin Kamara, expect Ingram’s ownership percentage to be low, which increases his value.
Other Notables: Le’Veon Bell $9,800, Melvin Gordon $7,000 and Terrance West $5,100
Wide Receiver
Julio Jones: Atlanta Falcons vs Green Bay Packers
Salary: $9,200
We used him last week and we are sticking with him this week. Julio Jones is a must use to complete your quarterback-wide receiver stack for week two. He only recorded 66 yards receiving in week one against the Bears. Five times last season when Jones failed to reach 100 yards receiving, the following week he broke the century mark. Look for that trend to continue against a shaky Packers secondary.
T.Y. Hilton: Indianapolis Colts vs Arizona Cardinals
Salary: $5,300
Despite getting dreadful quarterback play in week one, T.Y. Hilton managed to haul in three passes for 53 yards. Many people will stay away from Hilton in DraftKings as well as some season long lineups. He is worth a flyer with low ownership potential. The Cardinals were picked apart by Matthew Stafford and the Lions last week and Hilton still averages double-digit fantasy points in games not started by Andrew Luck over the course of his career.
Other Notables: Doug Baldwin $6,700, Keenan Allen $5,800 and Marqise Lee $3,800
Tight End
Greg Olsen: Carolina Panthers vs Buffalo Bills
Salary: $5,500
The Carolina Panthers had a pretty ho-hum win in San Francisco last week. The offense did just enough and the defense did plenty. Greg Olsen was very quiet in week one, but he should have more room to work with at home against a Bills defense that allowed Will Tye to make some plays.
Jared Cook: Oakland Raiders vs New York Jets
Salary: $3,300
Cook had a very nice Raiders debut last week. He caught all five of his targets for 56 yards and touchdown. The Jets allowed Charles Clay to score a touchdown on 53 yards last week. Clay was targeted nine times against the Jets defense. Look for Cook to put up a similar stat line this week in the Raiders home opener.
Other Notables: Rob Gronkowski $6,900, Jimmy Graham $4,900 and Coby Fleener $3,100
Defense
Seattle Seahawks
Salary: $4,000
Not much to be said here. The 49ers had extreme difficulty on offense at home against Carolina. Now they’re heading on the road against a Seahawks team coming off a lackluster loss in Green Bay. This has ROMP written all over it.
Baltimore Ravens
Salary: $3,700
Either the Ravens defense was very impressive last week or the Cincinnati Bengals offense was brutal. Whichever it is, the Ravens go home to take on a rookie quarterback in his first road game. Baltimore will introduce DeShone Kizer to what road life in the AFC North is all about.
Other Notables: Arizona Cardinals $4,100, Oakland Raiders $3,500 and Los Angeles Rams $3,000
