Early 2027 NFL Draft Charlie Becker Scouting Report

Charlie Becker broke out as one of the best receivers in college football in the second half of last season, and his scouting report looks at what made Becker so impactful last season, and how productive he might be able to be in the NFL.

Charlie Becker Scouting Report

Measurables:

Height- 6’4″

Weight- 207 lbs

Player Background:

Becker attended Father Ryan High School in Nashville, Tenn., where he was both a star football and track and field athlete. He won the state championship in both the 110-meter hurdles and the 300-meter hurdles in track, and he was a three-star recruit in football. Becker committed to Indiana and played in 12 games during his freshman season.

In 2025, Becker played in all 16 games and made eight starts during the season, with his first career start coming against UCLA. Becker finished third on the team in receiving yards with 679 yards, and he led the Big Ten in yards per reception with 20.0 yards per reception. He played a big part in helping lead Indiana to the program’s first-ever Big Ten Championship, College Football Playoff appearance, and National Championship, and he helped the team finish the season with a perfect 16-0 record. Becker earned Academic All-Big Ten honors during the 2025 season.

Strengths:

Becker has tremendous size for the position at 6-foot-4 and 207 pounds with a big frame, and he also has tremendous speed. Becker is a former track star and state champion and shows the ability to consistently create separation vertically downfield. With his great speed and ball tracking ability, Becker is an incredible deep-ball playmaker, and he averaged a Big Ten-leading 20 yards per reception during the 2025 season.

He is also an elite contested catch receiver and had one of the best contested catch rates in all of college football in 2025. Becker has tremendous body control and extremely reliable hands with zero drops last season. He was a very clutch playmaker last season as well, and a big reason why Indiana was able to win the National Championship. Becker made a number of big catches in the postseason, including a game-sealing third-down catch late in the fourth quarter in the Big Ten Championship, and a crucial 4th-and-5 catch in the fourth quarter against Miami (FL) in the National Championship.

Weaknesses:

Becker is a great big play threat, but he still needs to improve his ability to consistently create separation in the short area of the field. He is still developing as a route runner, and he relied heavily on an elite contested catch rate for his production in 2025. Becker also only has about half a season of great production in his career so far, with over 84% of his receiving yards coming from November through January during the season. He was also the No. 3 wide receiver on a talented offense with an elite quarterback and has not yet shown the ability to be one of the offense’s top consistent targets for an entire season.

Charlie Becker Scouting Report Overview:

Becker is a wide receiver prospect with a ton of upside. With his combination of size and speed, Becker does a great job of creating separation vertically downfield and has elite big-play ability. He is also arguably the best contested catch receiver among potential 2027 NFL Draft prospects. However, this upcoming season will be very important for how high of a draft pick Becker could end up being.

He showed flashes of having the talent to be a first-round wide receiver in the second half of the 2025 season, but he will now need to show he can continue to be productive throughout an entire season and as one of the team’s primary targets. Becker will also need to show if he can replicate the incredible success he had in contested catch situations in 2026. If Becker is able to have a productive season as a primary target and improve his ability to create separation in the short area of the field, he has a chance to be one of the top receivers taken in the 2027 NFL Draft.
