Entering his redshirt sophomore season, Georgia Bulldogs cornerback Ellis Robinson IV has earned first-round grades in early mocks. This, despite not being a full-time starter in 2025. Does the tape show a prospect with first-round traits?

Strengths
If there’s one position where speed is crucial, it’s cornerback. Robinson IV has excellent speed. On deep routes, he’s able to mirror receivers effortlessly. He’s a smooth athlete, and he has a recovery burst.
There’s comfort for NFL scouts in secondary prospects from Georgia. Robinson IV is the latest in a long line of high draft picks. Georgia asks Robinson IV to cover man-to-man (including some press-man) and in zone. He looks comfortable in both.
In man coverage, Robinson IV is able to mirror well when not in press. In press, he uses it effectively to guide receivers towards the sideline to give them less room to operate. He’s able to get his head around to find the ball.

In zone, Robinson IV’s hips are loose. He’s able to read quarterbacks well and jump routes.
Despite having a thin frame, Robinson IV is a willing tackler. He may be viewed as a nickel by the NFL, and given his willingness as a tackler, he projects well to this position.
Areas to Improve
Robinson IV didn’t play every defensive snap for Georgia in 2025. His playing time increased as the season went on, but he lacks experience. That shows at times in his game.
Robinson IV can get turned around close to the line, so he needs to read releases better. He can also give receivers a free inside release, and against bigger receivers, it gives them an easy slant completion.
While Robinson IV can cover without grabbing receivers, at times, he likes to do so. Occasionally, when beaten, his first reaction is to hold the receiver. This will draw flags at the next level.
Despite being a willing tackler, Robinson IV is not always an effective one. Against bigger receivers, he struggles to get them to the ground. On two occasions in the games watched, he bounced off a receiver. This limits his stock, as it would be unwise to match him up against an NFL boundary “X” receiver like San Francisco 49ers receiver Mike Evans.

His 2025 tape was inconsistent, but that is to be expected for a redshirt freshman.
Key Tests in 2026
No SEC schedule is easy, but Georgia’s is favorable in 2026. The biggest tests for Robinson IV will be the road game against the Alabama Crimson Tide on October 10 and the rematch of the quarter-final playoff game against the Ole Miss Rebels on November 7 in Oxford.
Other tests include an away matchup with the Oklahoma Sooners on September 26, hosting the Auburn Tigers on October 17 and a matchup against the highly touted LaNorris Sellers and the South Carolina Gamecocks on November 21.

Ellis Robinson IV 2027 NFL Draft Projection
Robinson IV is a difficult evaluation, partly because he didn’t play every snap for the Georgia defense. His inconsistencies are clear on tape, but they are to be expected for someone who was a redshirt freshman in 2025.
However, his traits stand out. His ability to mirror without needing to have his hands on receivers will be highly regarded in the NFL.
Robinson IV’s thin frame is a concern; he projects best to nickel at the next level. If he takes the next step in 2026 and is more consistent, while still making big plays, his stock will be high. He is a wait-and-see prospect, however, due to the inconsistencies.
