With the 2026 NFL Draft now over it is time to move on to the 2027 NFL Draft. The 2027 NFL draft class has potential to be an extremely talented draft class with many elite prospects and a great quarterback class, and here is a look at some of the top players and quarterbacks in the 2027 NFL Draft.
Previewing The 2027 NFL Draft Class
2027 NFL Draft Top Prospects
Ohio State once again has a top-tier wide receiver prospect in Jeremiah Smith, and Smith could be not only the best wide receiver in the 2027 NFL draft class, but the best receiver prospect Ohio State has ever had. Smith led the Big Ten in receiving yards in both his freshman and sophomore seasons, and in just two seasons already has 29 total career touchdowns. The All-American receiver has a tremendous combination of size and speed, and he is already a very well-rounded receiver. Smith has the ability to get open on all levels of the field, he has reliable hands, is a good route runner, and has incredible run-after-the-catch ability.
Along with Smith at the top of the draft board is a group of talented defensive prospects. Like Smith, Leonard Moore made an immediate impact as a freshman. The Notre Dame cornerback recorded seven total interceptions and 18 total pass deflections during his first two seasons, and he was named an All-American during the 2025 season. Moore led all cornerbacks in 2025 with a 91.8 overall PFF defense grade and a 92.5 PFF coverage grade.
Edge rusher Colin Simmons, out of Texas, has elite athletic ability. He has a quick first step, along with incredible bend, and a great motor as a pass rusher. In his first two seasons at Texas, Simmons recorded 21 sacks, including an SEC-leading 12 sacks during the 2025 season. He has also recorded six forced fumbles in his first two seasons. Dylan Stewart joins Simmons as the top edge defender in the 2027 NFL draft class. The South Carolina edge defender has an elite first step and great bend around the edge. He is a tremendous athlete with good length and a very high ceiling as a prospect.

2027 NFL Draft Quarterbacks
The 2027 quarterback class has a chance to be one of the best in recent history, and Arch Manning could be the top quarterback in the class. Manning had a bit of a slow start to the 2025 season, but he had a strong finish to the season. He has prototypical size for the position, along with good mobility and overall athletic ability. Manning has good arm talent as well, but he will need to improve his consistency with decision-making and accuracy in the short area of the field.
Dante Moore had a chance to be one of the top quarterbacks taken in the 2026 draft class, but chose to return to school for another year. Moore is an accurate passer who was highly productive last season, helping lead Oregon to the College Football Playoff semifinals with 30 passing touchdowns and a 71.8% completion percentage.
Julian Sayin was also a highly productive and accurate quarterback who led his team to the College Football Playoff. Sayin led the entire country in completion percentage in his first season as a full-time starter, completing 77% of his passes. He throws the ball with a quick release and great anticipation, but he does not stand out with great arm strength or mobility.
South Carolina quarterback LaNorris Sellers has elite upside as a prospect with tremendous arm talent and mobility. However, he was also an inconsistent player last season who needs to improve his accuracy and ability to go through progressions. CJ Carr was a highly productive passer for Notre Dame immediately in his first year as a starter last season. He has good accuracy and anticipation, and with another productive season, could have a chance to be a first-round pick in the 2027 NFL Draft.
Darian Mensah had elite production at both Tulane and Duke, helping lead Duke to an ACC Championship in 2025. He will now be the next quarterback for Miami (FL). Drew Mestemaker is another potential top quarterback prospect who will be with a new team in 2026, transferring from North Texas to Oklahoma State. Mestemaker is a former walk-on at North Texas who had a breakout season in 2025 with a nation-leading 4,379 passing yards. If he continues to play at a high level in the Big 12, he could be a high draft pick in the 2027 NFL Draft. Both Trinidad Chambliss and Jayden Maiava also returned to school after incredibly productive seasons in 2025.
