Signing Undrafted free agents in the NFL is a tricky proposition. In 2026, UDFA NFL Contracts in the NFC South totaled over $4.5 million. Once the draft is over, teams can sign undrafted college players, and the enticement of money talks. NFL teams just spent $10.6 million on undrafted players. It is worth noting that even though undrafted free agents can sign a three-year contract for just over $3 million, very little of that contract is guaranteed. In fact, many players have nothing guaranteed, or only paltry amounts of five to twenty thousand dollars.
Some teams, like the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, invested a guaranteed $916,000 on just five players, while others, like the Miami Dolphins, spent $180,000 on just two players.
