Davante Adams Injury Update: Star WR’s Status Revealed For Rams-Lions

Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Davante Adams is officially questionable with a hamstring injury for the team’s Week 15 showdown against the Detroit Lions, but a recent report gave clarity on his projected status. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the three-time All-Pro is expected to play, and head coach Sean McVay said he’d be “very surprised” if the hamstring issue sidelines his star receiver.

Davante Adams Injury Update: Rams WR Expected to Play Against Lions

This is fantastic news for the Rams, as the Davante Adams injury could have been a difficult blow for a team fighting for the NFC West crown and the top seed in the conference. Despite his age, Adams is in the midst of yet another fantastic season. While he’s not matching his elite heights of the late 2010s, he remains a crucial part of McVay’s passing attack. Starting and appearing in 13 games, the former second-round pick has recorded 56 receptions for 718 yards and a league-leading 14 touchdowns on 105 targets. With his help, quarterback Matthew Stafford is in the thick of the MVP race with New England Patriots second-year passer Drake Maye.

The Rams will need Adams as they face off against a desperate Detroit Lions team. After losing offensive coordinator Ben Johnson and defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn to head coaching positions in the offseason, the 8-5 Lions are currently one game out of the postseason. NFL.com gives them a 56% chance to make the playoffs, but that number jumps to 76% if they defeat the Rams. This team has the talent to go on a deep playoff run, and Los Angeles cannot afford to overlook this opponent.

The Rams, meanwhile, currently hold the NFC’s top seed but could fall to a Wild Card spot with a loss. The team currently shares a 10-3 record with the Seattle Seahawks, so they’ll need to win out to ensure they host a playoff game and potentially skip the Wild Card round entirely.
