The 31-year-old finished last season with two interceptions which was tied with Tavon Wilson, Darius Slay and Rafael Bush for the team lead. His 55 tackles was good enough for third on the team behind Wilson and linebacker Tahir Whitehead. He also added a forced fumble and five pass breakups.

Heading into his ninth NFL season, Quin had one year left on a five-year, $23.5 million deal he signed in 2013. The highlight of his time with Lions in that span came in 2014 when he led the league with seven interceptions. That year, he earned the lone Pro Bowl appearance of his career to this point.

Quin is the latest Lions defensive back to sign a multi-year pact in the last 12 months. The team inked Slay to a four-year, $50.2 million pact on July 29th of last year. Also joining the secondary is D.J. Hayden, who comes to the Lions from Oakland after signing a one-year, $3.75 million deal on March 10th.

The Houston Texans originally drafted Quin in the fourth round of the 2009 NFL Draft out of New Mexico. Quin put together an impressive senior campaign with the Lobos, tallying five interceptions and missing just five tackles all year. He became the first New Mexico defensive player to be named team MVP since former Chicago Bears great Brian Urlacher.

Lions training camp commences on Sunday in preparation for the preseason opener against the Indianapolis Colts. That game takes place August 13th in Indy and kicks off at 1:30 PM ET. The team welcomes the Arizona Cardinals to Detroit for the first game of the regular season on September 10th (1 PM ET, FOX).
