After tearing his ACL midway through the 2023 season, Talanoa Hufanga spent the majority of the 2024 season trying to get back on his feet. The USC product eventually made his way back to the field, starting and appearing in seven games while recording 38 tackles, two tackles-for-loss, and a 57.8 PFF grade, the 74th-best mark out of 98 eligible players. While these numbers aren’t overly impressive, it’s important to note he was working his way back from injury and didn’t look like his regular self throughout the season.

Talanoa Hufanga originally entered the league as a fifth-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. Selected by the San Francisco 49ers, the USC product spent the majority of his rookie season in a backup role. Appearing in 15 games while making three starts, the rookie showed promise while recording 32 tackles, one tackle-f0r-loss, and one quarterback hit. With his help, the 49ers made it to the NFC Championship Game but narrowly lost to the Los Angeles Rams.

Hufanga broke out in a big way in 2022. Stepping into a full-time starting role, the former fifth-round pick finished the season with four interceptions, nine passes defended, two sacks, 97 tackles, five tackles-for-loss, three quarterback hits, and a 72.1 PFF grade while earning Pro Bowl and First-Team All-Pro honors. Once again, his team made it to the NFC Championship Game but lost after quarterback Brock Purdy suffered an elbow injury early against the Philadelphia Eagles.

The aforementioned ACL injury limited Hufanga to just 10 games and three interceptions in 2023. Since signing his rookie contract. Talanoa Hufanga has appeared in 49 games while making 27 starts. While on the field, the fifth-round pick has recorded seven interceptions, 14 passes defended, two sacks, 219 tackles, nine tackles-for-loss, and six quarterback hits.
