Top-five impending free agent safety Jevon Holland may sign with the Chiefs, Ravens this upcoming offseason. According to ESPN, Holland is one of the top players who could move on to a new roster after the 2024 campaign since the Miami Dolphins probably can’t afford him. The Dolphins were in talks with Holland last offseason before extending important players for their roster like Tua Tagovailoa, Tyreek Hill and Jalen Ramsey. It will become difficult for the team to sign him to a new contract since he won’t be staying on a discount so he should have a market this free agency.
Originally selected in the 2021 NFL Draft, the former second-rounder is shaping himself into a multidimensional talent who can play any position in the secondary. Holland is having a rough outing this year but he does have five interceptions, 13 pass breakups and five sacks in his four years with the team. His versatility and rare abilities may land him a strong deal similar to what Antoine Winfield Jr. and Xavier McKinney earned. The Dolphins losing someone like Holland will be crucial to the backbone of their secondary which proves he’s a reliable defensive playmaker.
Holland is a healthy scratch and started pretty much all games in the NFL since arriving to the team. The NFL Free Agency is still months away but the highly-talented safety could get a lot of interest and it shouldn’t be long until he signs with a new team. The Chiefs, Ravens could bring out the best in him to be the next potential superstar in the making.

Secondary Help in Baltimore
Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry lead this team with a ferocious offense that is capable of winning the Super Bowl. However, they lost several key free agents this past offseason, including Jadeveon Clowney, Patrick Queen and Geno Stone. The pass defense hasn’t been the same for the Ravens since they’ve been allowing many shootouts that are making the offense a living hell. Eddie Jackson may be coming back as a healthy scratch but he isn’t in his prime anymore where he could last a full-time role.
After being benched, the Ravens may bring him back to see if he can improve his play. This will include seeing how Marcus Williams will perform for the rest of the year but these woes will become crucial in the postseason. According to Pro Football Focus, the Ravens have one of the worst defensive players and cornerback Brandon Stephens underperforming isn’t helping the odds. While they have a banged-up secondary with Kyle Hamilton out, they could benefit from signing Holland to become their immediate starter next offseason.
Extra Defensive Power
The Kansas City Chiefs’ undefeated record can give their flowers to the team’s defense to step up in crucial moments. Patrick Mahomes is having one of the worst seasons statistically despite trading for DeAndre Hopkins before the trade deadline. However, the team has one of the deepest safety groups in the league with Justin Reid and Bryan Cook leading the pack. The team still lacks plenty of experience despite the talent they have on hand.
The Chiefs’ secondary may be thorough and aggressive but extra depth wouldn’t mean a bad thing considering losing L’Jarius Sneed still hurt the team. Jaden Hicks and Chamarri Conner are still adjusting in their reserve roles so someone like Holland could help bolster this secondary. Reid is playing his best football but they won’t want to risk playing Hicks in a full-time role if he isn’t ready for it.
