Justin Reid Signs Contract With Kansas City Chiefs

Veteran safety Justin Reid signed a new contract. He was drafted in the third round of the 2018 NFL Draft by the Houston Texans.

NFL veteran safety Justin Reid signed a new contract with the Kansas City Chiefs. Reid spent the first four years of his career with the Houston Texans.

Reid completed his fourth season as a pro in 2021. He played in 13 of 17 regular-season games, starting in each. Reid missed four games due to a combination of injuries and an off-the-field issue. He had two interceptions along with four passes defended and one forced fumble. Reid also had 66 total tackles, 41 solo tackles, and two tackles for loss.

The 2020 season was Reid’s lone season without an interception. He also played at strong safety as opposed to his natural position of free safety. Although he didn’t secure any picks, Reid did have four passes defended and two sacks. Reid also had a total of 83 tackles, 62 solo tackles, and six tackles for loss. He finished the season playing in 13 games and starting in each.

Reid’s sophomore campaign was a productive one. Though he didn’t quite match the production from his rookie season, he still had a strong year. Reid started and played in 15 games during the 2019 season. He had two interceptions with 55 return yards and a long of 37 yards. Reid also had five passes defended and one fumble recovery along with 78 total tackles, 57 solo tackles, and one for loss.

The 2018 season was a very strong one for Reid as a rookie. He played in all 16 regular-season games and started in 12. He had three interceptions on the season, with 128 return yards and a long of 101. Reid had a 101-yard pick-six in week seven of the 2018 season against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Reid also had a total of 88 tackles, 70 solo tackles, two tackles for loss, two fumble recoveries, and one forced fumble.

The Texans selected Reid with the 68th overall pick of the 2018 NFL Draft in the third round. He is originally from Prairieville, LA, and went to Stanford for college.
