Ravens, Chargers Likely To Trade For All-Pro Pro Bowler

The Ravens and Chargers may likely trade for All-Pro Pro Bowler, Devin White to revitalize his inconsistent career.

The Ravens and Chargers may likely pursue a trade that would bring All-Pro Pro Bowler, Devin White to bolster their defense. According to a source, White is among the 15 players who could move on to a new roster in a trade before the deadline in November. It doesn’t surprise anyone that White would want to move on since he’s been a healthy scratch since week two and hasn’t got any playing time. White lost his starting job to Nakobe Dean after signing a one-year deal to prove he still has what it takes to be a starter again.

However, it doesn’t look good as White cannot prove he could be the same player he once was. The Buccaneers got him in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft and made him one of the most capable blitzers in the league. White has been losing his touch but his consistency of sitting on the bench could persuade him to request a trade out of Philadelphia. He said he came to the Eagles to rewrite his career but it looks like it will have to elsewhere unless Dean suffers an injury.

Inconsistency continues to be an issue for him and that’s why the Buccaneers were moving on from him in the first place. However, reports believe he could carve out a role in Buffalo. This makes sense considering the Bills already lost Matt Milano for the year and now Terrel Bernard went down with a pectoral strain. The Bills could use someone like White right now even though he does tend to have a few issues but it’s a temporary bandaid they should consider.

There are other needy teams like the Ravens and Chargers that are looking to add veteran experience to their Linebacker corps.

More Firepower in Baltimore

The Ravens could invite the idea of bringing White to boost the production of the team’s pass rush. Kyle Van Noy has been dealing with some injuries but he’s a healthy scratch so White might be able to get additional reps in John Harbaugh’s defense. Baltimore is getting younger after losing Jadeveon Clowney this past offseason and now hoping Odafe Oweh and David Ojabo can establish themselves. However, it’s going to take more than them to carry this defense since they have no Super Bowl experience which the Ravens are hoping to make it to by dethroning the Chiefs.

Patrick Mahomes is one of the greatest quarterbacks of the century. The only way the Ravens can get a fighting chance to give Mahomes a living hell is to get a veteran who could get after the quarterback. Roquan Smith is an answer as an example but he needs a veteran alongside him that could still produce with a high ceiling. White has the experience and stats to back up that he could still accomplish that.

Los Angeles Fallout?

After suffering their first loss of the year, it wasn’t the only thing the Chargers lost. Joe Alt, Joey Bosa and Rashawn Slater in one singular matchup. Jim Harbaugh may have to force in backup mode and if Bosa continues to miss games, he could trade for someone like White. There’s no guarantee that Bosa will return 100% since he does have a strong history of injuries.

Other Potential Trade Destinations

Carolina Panthers

The offense finally found some life after picking up their first win of the year against Las Vegas. However, defense continues to be a weak point to no one’s surprise without Derrick Brown’s presence. The Panthers have Jadeveon Clowney and Shaq Thompson on the outside ends but they may need some additional veteran support. Clowney is the lone veteran who has a ton of championship experience so it may be safe to roll the dice on someone like White who could replicate that on a one-year deal.

New Orleans Saints

The Eagles were able to find a way to break away from the Saints’ defense. Chase Young is still explosive but he may need some help alongside Cameron Jordan. White might be the same player but he could bolster the defense to give Derek Carr extra time on the field.
