Calvin Ridley Contract

Division Rival Steals Top Free Agent Wide Receiver With Massive Contract

Veteran wide receiver Calvin Ridley signed a new contract with the Tennessee Titans. Ridley, a former first-round pick, spent the 2023 season with the Jacksonville Jaguars but has also played for the Atlanta Falcons.

Calvin Ridley’s first season with the Jacksonville Jaguars was something of a mixed bag. Starting and appearing in all 17 games, the wide receiver finished the campaign with 76 receptions for 1,016 yards and eight touchdowns on 136 targets. The Jaguars themselves got off to a hot start before cooling off and missing the playoffs entirely.

Ridley originally entered the NFL as a first-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. Selected by the Atlanta Falcons, the Alabama product made an immediate impact for the team. Quickly establishing a rapport with Matt Ryan, Calvin Ridley finished his inaugural season with 64 receptions for 821 yards and 10 touchdowns.

The 2019 season proved to be more of the same for Ridley. Standing as second fiddle to Julio Jones, the wideout finished the year with 63 receptions for 866 yards and seven touchdowns. However, the team traded Jones prior to the 2020 season, and Calvin Ridley responded with the best season of his career. Starting and appearing in 15 games, Ridley set career highs in receptions (90) and yards (1,374) while hauling in 10 touchdowns.

Unfortunately, Calvin Ridley was never able to build on that success. The Alabama product played in just five games in 2021 before missing the remainder of the season to improve his mental health. He was supposed to come back in 2022 but faced a season-long suspension for betting on NFL games. Eventually, the Falcons decided to trade him to the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Since signing his rookie contract, Calvin Ridley has appeared in 66 games while making 52 starts. While on the field, the former first-round pick has recorded 324 receptions for 4,358 yards and 36 touchdowns on 516 targets.
