Isaac Seumalo Signs Contract With Pittsburgh Steelers

NFL veteran offensive guard Isaac Seumalo signed a new contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Seumalo, a former third-round pick, spent the entirety of his professional career with the Philadelphia Eagles.

After two injury-plagued seasons, Isaac Seumalo returned to the field and proved that he can stay play at a high level. Starting and appearing in all 17 games, Seumalo was a key part of an offensive line that ranked at or near the top of just about every offensive line metric there is. Following his impressive campaign, Seumalo earned a nomination to the Pro Bowl, but he didn’t go since he was playing in the Super Bowl.

Isaac Seumalo originally entered the NFL as a third-round pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. Selected by the Philadelphia Eagles, the Oregon State product spent the majority of his rookie season battling for playing time. Ultimately, the rookie only appeared in nine games while making four starts for the Eagles.

Seumalo began the 2017 season as the team’s starting left guard, but quickly lost the position following poor play early in the season. Even though he never regained the starting job that year, he still made his way into 14 regular season games and helped defeat the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl.

Seumalo finally made his way back into the starting lineup midway through the 2018 season, and he never relinquished the role again. In 2019, he started and appeared in all 16 games as the Eagles made yet another postseason appearance.

Following the season, Philadelphia signed Isaac Seumalo to a three-year contract extension. Unfortunately, two of those years were essentially lost to injury. Seumalo suffered a knee injury early in 2020 that kept him out of all but nine games. His luck didn’t improve in 2021, as he missed 14 gams thanks to a Week 3 Lisfranc injury.
